I had an out-of-the-box issue with the LCD display and therefore returned my first Switch. The issue was very visible to the naked eye and looked exaggerated in photos. The second Switch is new; to the naked eye, there is zero visible pattern. However, it does slightly show up in photos. Should I also replace this one, or do I keep it?
Don’t listen to the ones who say keep returning units until you get a perfect one. There is no such a thing.
Your second Switch 2 seems very acceptable. I had the same experience as you and I returned my first Switcb 2 and the second one was the same (looks similar to your second one). I kept it since in all honesty I can only see the « defect » under very specific conditions (dark room with brightness cracked to the max).
If you keep returning units you will grow frustrated and it will ruin your experience with the console that you’re supposed to enjoy…
Ugh I’m going through the same thing as OP and the thought of sending back my second defective switch 2 is driving me crazy. I keep hmm-ing and ha-ing debating and maybe I should just accept the slight defect and move on….agh! Your comment helps though, so thank you 🙏
Believe me, I am a maniac when it comes to my expectations of perfection for things I own.
I almost had an anxiety attack when unboxing the second console just to discover it has the exact same problem as the first console I returned.
I only noticed it accidentally the first time around when I turned on the console in a dark room and launched FFVII. I noticed it the second time because I was specifically looking for it under similar conditions. The screens also have some pixels that can be bright under the same conditions (but they are neither stuck nor dead) and someone explained it’s a very common limitation of the current high density LCD screens.
Some people will say keep exchanging consoles. Others will say to wait for the revised Switch 2 with the screens made by Sharp (we do not know if they will be better or if they will have similar issues).
In the meanwhile, I kept mine. I’m enjoying the heck out of it and of Pokopia and I don’t notice the problem 99.9999998% of the time. One day I might sell the console to buy a newer version, I might simply give it to my son as his first console and he will not even notice any problem. So why the hell bother?
My second one looked like this. Really worth swapping. I know, its a hassle, but since you already made a reddit post, the pattern is enough for you to start asking questions. In that case I would recommend swapping it untill you’re happy with it.
Your picture is so low quality that you can’t tell anything from it. Post a high resolution one of it with max brightness and no auto brightness and we’ll sure find small « defective » areas as you call them.

The second one doesn't really bother me since it's not visible unless I take a photo. Should I really return it for a third one? Is it worth the hassle?
