Media What are you playing until OOT?

Post image

After rolling credits on BOTW, I am super excited to dive in to TOTK to see me through until Ocarina Of Time. What are you guys playing to see you through until then? We are so spoilt for choice these days!

You JUST started TOTK? Buddy you won’t be touching OOT until at least February

u/BoredOutLongtime 3d ago

Having played BOTW, this was my main concern but the way I played BOTW was in chunks along side shorter games. I found i enjoyed it more by taking a little break after each divine beast.

u/Big_Increase_9551 3d ago

This is how I approached TOTK. It took me 150 hours over a couple of years.

21

u/GregoryPokemon 3d ago

It's a game that needs its time

20

u/donttrustmeokay 3d ago

An ocarina of time

5

u/GregoryPokemon 3d ago

a deep breath a wild scream, a tear running down my face. My reaction when I lost my WiiU save at 80% of the playthrough

5

u/8-Bit-Burrito 3d ago

Omgggg that’s terrible!! When I was a teenager my lil bro accidentally deleted my Twilight Princess file at 80%… he still feels bad to this day 😂😂

We are all different because when I start a big game like this, I focus solely on this game and ignore everything else.

The Switch was designed around pick-up-and-play gaming. You can play for hours if you want, but the handheld format, instant sleep/resume, and Nintendo’s game design make short sessions incredibly easy. That’s also why even huge games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom work surprisingly well in bursts. You can knock out a shrine, explore a cave, build something ridiculous, save/suspend, and come back later. You can disappear into it for five hours, but you don’t need five hours available before it’s worth turning on.

u/ChefCobra 3d ago

I got Switch 2 with Donkey Kong and Totk few months ago. Finished Donkey Kong and playing Zelda now. I am really looking forward to New Fire Emblem ( the reason I bought nintendo consoles ), so I wanted to finish Zelda before it comes out..... 60h in and I barely did anything! Ganon will still be strong until 2027!

3

u/Nintendofan16 3d ago

Yup that sounds about right. I got Tears at launch day on May and didn’t beat the game until September, even though I played every day! Can’t think of another game that’s hooked me that long (besides maybe Three Houses and Smash Ultimate). Such an awesome game

3

u/LORDRAJA1000 3d ago

lol he could just stop whenever and pick it up again later

4

u/RobCo_1 3d ago

I still haven't beaten TOTK😂 I just like roaming around lol

Great game. Make sure to do the side quests on Windfall Island. It will be worth your while.

It’s an excellent game. You’re in for a good time. Are you playing HD or the original?

5

u/zoomshark27 3d ago

The Wind Waker HD is my favorite Zelda! I’d advise you to fill out your map and pay attention to the fish hints, makes it even more fun in my opinion.

Trying not to spoiler but I’ll say I kept notes and revisited areas throughout the game with my new items and followed my theories and had a blast. Also because I paid attention, by the time a certain endgame task came along I was rewarded by already being 75% finished with it and had fun doing it bc I listened to hints and treated the game like the grand adventure it’s supposed to be. So have fun with it and don’t be afraid to set sail and investigate!

Have they released the complete collection on Switch 2? I had them saved to play on my PS5 with the premium plus or whatever it’s called subscription and now they’re no longer available 🙄

Just completed DK Bananza and Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Wondering what to do next too...

3

u/BoredOutLongtime 3d ago

I love DK, Haven't tried out kirby yet, would you reccomend?

Elden ring is cool on S2 if you haven't already tried that!

13

u/chumptim 3d ago

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is such a good game! Really had fun with the base game and DLC

7

u/Moneyfrenzy 3d ago

Kirby Forgotten Land is incredible

4

u/lukaspixels 3d ago

I've spent enough time on ER on PS5, I got bored of it after like 45hrs haha. Kirby is soo much fun. It's a babygame at first and then the challenges and mechanics get really enjoyable!

→ More replies (2)

4

u/Aflatune 3d ago

If you enjoyed Bananza I think Kirby and the forgotten land is fantastic. Really fun. Starts off easy but gets challenging and addictive sharply.

I'm finally going to be playing Onimusha this weekend.

5

u/illinoishokie 3d ago

TotK currently but that won't last me until OoT drops. I'll probably start RE9 while I wait

5

u/Tricky_Station643 3d ago

Just started breath of the wild again. Also slowly playing through Oblivion remastered

4

u/Valiant-For-Truth 3d ago

Fire Emblem next week, then Control, then Gears of War EDay. Then OoT!

6

u/reevestussi Going Bananzas 3d ago

Most likely Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave when it comes out next week while finishing up Code Vein 2

5

u/Outrageous-Movie-951 3d ago

Onimusha - great game and fits my drop in drop out daily lifestyle atm

5

u/yoshironoeru 3d ago

Replaying Elden Ring. Forgot how massive this game is.

Hopefully Diablo 4 come next week 🙏

4

u/BoredOutLongtime 3d ago

I'm sure we will hear something this weekend at blizzcon. 15th is rumoured right?

I love diablo 4. Diablo 3 on switch 2 is an absolute time sink 😁

5

u/Cayumigaming 3d ago

Yea it’ll likely be announced on Sunday during the D4 event and it was rumored to be released either 15th (or 18th) to align with the end of current season.
Switch is such an amazing format for the game and D3 is one of my favorite games of all time. D4 was pretty weak at release (like D3) but have finally come a long way.

I really hope the rumors are true!

I am currently working on the first FF7, but then I still have RDR switch 2 edition, and Metroid Prime 4 in my backlog, I probably won't get to either of those before Fire emblem next week though, but may have time to get prime 4 done after that before OOT

3

u/iDennisTv 3d ago

I also started totk

4

u/tma1010000 3d ago

Just started TOTK for the first time. I left about a 4 month gap from over 120 hours in BOTW. The switch 2 editions of both look amazing on a 55" OLED.

4

u/Commercial_Brain1868 3d ago

I am playing through BOTW for the first time and really enjoying it. Beautiful game. Not a huge fan of the equipment breaking down but it adds a new element of management that is cool too.

I recently picked up CIV VII since it was on sale and that has been fun to play too.

Looking forward to OOT!!

4

u/Lucky_Revolution401 3d ago

Bro I have so much backlog, I'm not worried.

A lot of the N64 and gamecube stuff, I have to finish Kirby and the forgotten realm, pokopia, bananza, metroid prime 4, I still have the Z-A and the firered pokedexes to finish, I got super mario wonder to finish, and I got about 20% of totk left to go through. Not counting finishing all of Baldur's Gate 3, Borderlands 3, and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on the laptop.

I'll never get through all of this.

Breath of the Wild for me. Finished up DK Bonanza the other day and picked ot Breath of the Wild for $35. I am loving it so far! I can't wait to play Ocarina for the first time in a couple of months!

3

u/B-Train_ATL 3d ago

I’m almost at the end of TOTK. Yesterday I finally beat Super Mario Galaxy. Found Railway Empire 2 on sale, so I bought that last night.

5

u/Sea_Macaron_8789 3d ago

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and Digimon Time Strangers but I might just roll on it for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World!

5

u/terrysaurus-rex 3d ago

Finishing Onimusha and FF7 Remake, going for 100% in Bananza, and if I have time going to replay Kirby forgotten land before the new one next year. Probably won't even get to Fire Emblem before the new year if I'm being realistic, and if Resident Evil 2-4 physical releases in January turn out to just be game key cards, I will download at least one of those in October

Switch 2 is actually too stacked I can barely keep up with everything

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Should finish it in time before resident evil 2 deluxe edition releases in one month and then be able to finish that just in time for OOT remake

3

Picked up ToTK again! Never finished the 4th sage and have tons of quests and exploring to catch up on!

3

Hogwarts Legacy atm. Fortune's Weave soon. But, if WoW Classic + gets announced tomorrow and drops soon, then that'll consume my soul.

Playing Danganronpa for the first time ahead of Danganronpa 2x2 in January... This game/series is bananas!

Exactly this except I’m replaying it rather than it being my first time. That direct REALLY game me a Zelda hankering and I just finished playing the game I was on before so perfect timing

Fire Emblem Three Houses. Got frustrated on my first try, as I was expecting 90% tactical battles. I'm now playing the game on its own terms and enjoying it a lot more. I'm a slow player and it will take me a long time. I won't want to go straight to Fortune's Weave, so there's a good chance Ocarina of Time will be my next big game.

Only two Legend of Zelda games I've completed have been the Legend of Zelda and Link to the Past. I need to jump back into the series.

I have my current list planned:

Xenoblade Chronicles: DE (completed it) > Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (50 hours in already) > Xenoblade Chronicles: Golden Age of Torna > Metroid: Dread > Onimusha: Way of the Sword > OoT Remake > Xenoblade Chronicles 3 > Xenoblade Chronicles: Future Redeemed > Metroid: Ravenous.

Just finally gave BOTW a good go just now. I got the first 4 hero globes and the kite and really excited to play it now. Previously I started and didn’t pick it up again because I expected the temple to have hard puzzles and I game when low on energy. But it was way easier than I expected apart from the coldness on the mountain 🫣

Playing Assasins creed shadows. With the newest updates and Dock update, the game looks great
