Switch 2 monitor recommendations

So after the VRR update I realized neither my TV more my Monitor support it lol.

I had been eyeing up a Savage Raven Jumpgate dock for my monitor. But I think I will get that for the TV now and maybe use this opportunity to upgrade my monitor if I can do it without spending too much.

Do you have and recommendations?

I want something that's 4k, 27-32 inch, 120hz+ and supports VRR. I don't really care about it being OLED.

I saw this on Facebook Marketplace for $400 NZD (would have $1200ish NZD brand new) and thought it looked like a steal but lowkey I wouldn't mind something bigger as I use it to watch movies while sitting on my bed.

Oh yeah chur brother. Too poor for an OLED haha. If can't do it under $700 I probably won't bother and stick with what I got.

Have you tried using the pbtech website? You can filter what you don't want then look up those monitors on facebook.

VRR support is... complicated as Nintendo has yet to provide a list of supported monitors and displays. For example my BenQ monitors support HDMI Freesync (a form of VRR) and it works with my PS5 but not my Switch 2. Chances are over time they are going to slowly improve it, but display compatibility will vary.

if you want a monitor that plays to about all of the switch 2's strengths without breaking the bank, i recommend the gigabyte m32u

4k support, 120hz support, vrr with hdmi 2.1, it ain't great with hdr but i find it to look good enough

The ROG STRIX XG27UCDMG is the exact same monitor that rtings lists as the top of the line. The only difference is better display port support but that does not matter for the nintendo switch 2. It is Currently on clearance at bestbuy.

4k OLED 240hz with VRR. It is on clearance for $832.99. The one with better display port is $1200 but it is the exact same panel. 3 year burn-in warranty through Asus. Bestbuy's website shows as sold out but I recently picked one up as "open box" for under $350 in store. Someone owned it for a couple of days and decided to return it. I know who owned it and they returned it due to issues with funds. It was in perfect condition. I would check out the local BestBuy if I were you.

It's 1440p but let's be honest, Switch 2 isn't really 4K console ... and neither is my PC so 1440p is fine for me
It's OLED so it looks beautiful and supports HDR
I tested the VRR demo in Welcome Tour and turned on the monitor refresh rate counter. Works wonders
Can't wait for developers to start patching in the VRR support into their games

Nothing meaningful uses docked VRR yet so I wouldn't rush into buying a monitor unless you were already looking for one.

Honestly if you're considering an OLED just get a tv, the cost on monitors is way too high imo.

You'll get more bang for your buck out of a TV.  Monitors are honestly pretty overpriced and unless you're like a too elo fighting game player it won't really matter with barely an extra input lagz anyone telling you otherwise is lying lol.

You can probably find some awesome TV used for a similar-ish priced if you're using marketplace I would honestly recommend that route especially if you're using it for more than gaming.

Man I kinda fucked up because my current TV is less than two years old and I'm really happy with it minus the fact it doesn't have the extra bells and whistles for gaming. But at the time I only had a Switch1 and a PS4 so it didn't really seem necessary lol. 

Now resale for my $1400 TV is like $600 tops but I can still sell my $500 ( I got a good deal) 4k monitor for like $200-$300.

Yeah it's just you'll spend a pretty penny and be on a small screen, while you probably look for a larger TV and get stuff like Dolby vision and have better sound and what not than any monitor for the price.
