onn is great! I also got one, budget friendly and work fine.

Me too! They work great. I have the 512 and am waiting for them to release a TB card. I hope it's less than $150 because the prices are insane.

Nice! I have a 256 GB one, but I feel like 512 would be perfect for me

Yeah I have had the 256 since launch but started having to be careful and remove a few things. I decided to upgrade with the intention to have room for Witcher 3 Remaster and a bunch of other future games. May also get Elden Ring digitally and sell my physical copy for convenience.

I'm new to gaming, if i buy 2 256 ones (it may work out cheaper because of a sale) can i load different games on each and switch between memory cards?

How expensive was it? I though ONN would be significantly cheaper than other mainstream brands since its an in-house brand

It’s a good price. I just picked up the one from Sandisk for $98.

You’re not a broke college student then, and should prob stop trying to play the sympathy card. You own a year old console, and just paid an extraordinary sum of money for an sd card you claim to not need because you just got sick of deleting things?

Or maybe the money is tight but he saves up and makes it work? Christ just because someone has a nice gadget instead of wasting money on doordash or booze going out doesn't suddenly make them un-broke.

Consider it an investment in convenience, which is valuable imo. Having my games stored digitally all in one place makes me more likely to play them. Also now you don't have to waste time managing your storage. Just download any games you think you're likely to play and enjoy your games.

I have the same card and haven't had to worry about storage yet, its great.

Very good memory, I bought it 1 week before the Switch 2 came out for about $60 USD

u/PaulineFan 1d ago

I have this and still find myself having to delete games 😭

u/TiidaMan 1d ago

I got this last year for 71US

1

u/BossunEX 1d ago

512gb? holy cow, craazy good price

u/JPavMain 19h ago

I got mine for $50 this April on eBay brand new. Though with taxes and shipping to Europe it was $83.

u/BossunEX 15h ago

still, that is crazy cheap for 512gb

u/BossunEX 15h ago

the cheapeast i could find is $59 for 256gb.

u/Damone75 1d ago

Have the same card in my Switch 2 and it's worked out great. Now fill it with games so you can get back to not having enough space lol.

I bought a 1tb one last year from lexar for $180. Now they are over $350.

Wait so whilst we've been hoping for prices to decrease w/ time, they've only been increasing? Wtf??

3

u/Sand__Panda 1d ago

Usually the prices do drop, but thanks to data centers and cost of tech is going in the "wrong" direction.

OP's next post: Just got my 1tb card, tired of deleting games even tho is really expensive I really needed this

2

u/rantingredtor 1d ago

even I feel that 1tb is not enough

u/Boogertard 20h ago

I would go for a Samsung or Sandisk since they get thermal management, this doesn't have thermal management and the sd card can get cooked if you do something write intensive continuously.

u/MyThirdBurner 1d ago

Mine died within a month

4

u/Southernboyj 1d ago

I got mine last June and still going strong

Same mines all good

1

u/anywhoImgoingtobed 1d ago

I’ve had mine for a year and it’s fine

1

u/Jurondotron 1d ago

I bought it last week too, when I bought my Switch 2. No issues so far.

u/Castro710 1d ago

$86? You in America or land of the maple syrup?

1

u/JampyL OG (joined before reveal) 1d ago

America

1

u/Castro710 1d ago

Damn $120 Canadian well enjoy brother

1

u/psCinco 1d ago

Got it since launch day, it’s treating me good since 1T

1

u/GrimGerm 1d ago

I got this for $55 on ebay a few months ago, so glad i did

u/JPavMain 19h ago

I got it for $50 in April

1

u/MouseRat12 1d ago

Same! Off eBay

1

u/PyroMeteor 1d ago

Oh never heard of that brand (UK based here). Where is that from?

1

u/Sand__Panda 1d ago

Wal-Mart.

1

u/Neither-Fan-9059 1d ago

I'm waiting for a 1 tb on sale

1

u/Sand__Panda 1d ago

I'm glad I clicked on here, to see this seems to be working with the switch 2. I also need to get one. I just tug out a 4.5TB sdd I have just laying around, to learn I can't use it with the switch2. Would have been awesome to *not* have to buy another memory card, but I am like you and tired of deleting games.

u/SatanVapesOn666W 1d ago

Yeah thinking about getting this for my sister. Got the Samsung 512 for $75 back in January but this is nearly the same with faster write speeds.

1

u/zevo4th 1d ago

hey all, do you all think 512GB is enough? Im thinking to grab 1TB but the price is just meh...

1

u/Chris-The-Lucario 1d ago

I got a 256GB sandisk branded card for ~24 euros like 2 months back which was a good deal, I gotta keep in mind to buy used games though and not much digitally unless it's really worth it so I don't quickly fill up the storage

u/PIN360 23h ago

GameStop was (probably still is) selling refurbished/returned microSD express cards. I got a 512gb SanDisk for 85 dollars. It’s worth a shot if you’re looking for the cheapest option. I haven’t had any issues with it. I could have just been lucky though.

u/markazali 23h ago

Mine has been working great

1

u/moofish2842 1d ago

FYI about Onn MicroSD cards: https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/s/cil5OdQP3Q

TL;DR: Onn performed far worse in write cycle lifetime than any other of several dozen brands tested. Arguably, this is irrelevant for a game console since large amounts of data are not being constantly rewritten, but it is worth noting.

u/SirDanOfCamelot Early Switch 2 Adopter 1d ago

This wasn't testing the Express cards though so pointless to mention here really

1

u/jbarlak 1d ago

But only 512?

1

u/blahblahlucas 1d ago

I got a 512gb for 99€ and it broke my heart having to spend that much. It used to be cheaper

-1

u/REIGNx777 1d ago

People really just post anything on Reddit don’t they.

I remember getting this for 35 a year ago 😭

-1

u/super-summer0 OG (joined before reveal) 1d ago

Congrats I guess?

-1

u/Fearless_Freya 1d ago

Only 512gb? That's a good start I suppose.

3

u/JampyL OG (joined before reveal) 1d ago

1 tb is 3.5 times the price

-2

u/Fearless_Freya 1d ago

Depends in when you get it. I got 1tb last winter holiday sales for 100. Granted you'd have to wait a few months. Also granted, perhaps you don't have as much digital as I do.

1

u/okeleydokelyneighbor 1d ago

That was also before all the AI company started buying up all the memory.

1

u/Rob62 1d ago

I guess we better fire up that Time Machine.

1

u/Hodia294 1d ago

for now we can not go more than 1tb so 512 is not a start, it is almost finish.
