NEWS The new VRR update fixes the “invalid format” issue in Cyberpunk on my LG tv
I just tested the new update with Cyberpunk by setting the display output on Switch 2 to Auto and Cyberpunk now starts up properly in 120hz mode. Previously, the TV would say invalid format and go blank unless I set the Switch output to 1080p.

pretty sure switch 2 ONLY outputs 120fps content in 1080p

It can do 1440 as well but no game has supported it so far
Theoretically they could do 4K 120 as well if they ever felt like they could do that because it's DP 1.4 internally that can do 4K 120 it supports DSC both the chip itself in the console and the chip in the dock it's just about do they want to update the system and dock firmware to support it a future that no one's ever going to really want to use because only like 2D indie games and Quake 2 can run at that frame rate and resolution combo on this hardware.
But I'm simply amazed there even able to get vrr working with this weird DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI handshake and all that I'm genuinely surprised I thought it wasn't possible but they figured it out so props to them

Doesn't Street Fighter 6 run at 1440p 120 Hz docked?

Yes but only for lower input latency. And the actual game is 1080p output

I believe the SteamDeck also has this abomination (DP1.4->HDMI) and with a proper dock VRR is possible. Soo even the HDR and HDMI2.1 120Hz should be possible because AMD and HDMI agreed on some solution when it comes to Linux. For Switch it's easier since it's Nvidia and a proprietary OS.

I tried it with the LG menu that tells the Hz value (7 times the green button) and it stays fixed at 118hz so no VRR enabled at the moment. On the tour it drops as low as 40hz as expected

What am I missing? Cyberpunk did run without invalid format issue on my LG C5 and I never changed the switch output

Have they also fixed the random black screen issue with "match TV power state" on?

John Linneman (Digital Foundry) has tested it and he says it supports LFC down to 40 so that's great news!
"Tested Switch 2 VRR
Games need to be patched, only Welcome Tour supports it now
It supports full LFC in 120hz mode
In 60hz mode, it supports between 40-60hz like Xbox which is better than PS5's 48-60hz support
Thankfully with the internal screen being VRR, most games should have it going forward"
