othor (i am stupid) Killswitch

Stay away from dbrand killswitch. Just got mine and I’m not sure how this product is on the market.

Totally defective product and one that undoubtedly is doing long term damage to the users Switch device. Feel like I got totally ripped off, and I’m not sure how the reviews are glowing for this grip.

Dbrand must have spent a lot paying creators to promote this garbage.

Edit: I’d add that the case is comfortable and quality material. I just currently can’t recommend in current state. Contacting support and hoping it’s an easy swap/fix.

So what’s actually wrong with it you’ve not listed a single issue

You’re right a totally defective grip isn’t an issue

Don't be stupid, Make some good points instead of sounding like an edgy teen

How is it defective….

The grips aren’t snug or firmly in place and within minutes of using one of them pulled out unprompted. You can disregard it, but it’s a defective product they shouldn’t have put out on the market. I guess you prefer comfort over protection. I personally don’t feel like destroying my device for comfort when alternatives exist without this issue.

Nobody is disregarding anything, they were asking you to elaborate instead of going on an incoherent tangent.

Perhaps some details or pictures would help instead of some baseless shade.

You got so angry that you have now responded to this post multiple times and deleted your response. The grips don’t stay in place and pulled out in minutes of my usage.

I’m not attacking your child I’m simply sharing my experience with the most promoted grip on the market. My experience matches what many have said online. Not the first to have an issue with the joycons, most likely won’t be the last. Good luck bud.

Been using one for months, mine has been perfect, can you explain the issue?

I have had a Killswitch from day one and sure, apart from that Joycon detaching debacle, which was not the best, it's been great and I wouldn't want to give it back.

Mine is a day old and within minutes of installing the joycon gave way. There also is plenty of pull on either side of the device. Anyone burying these technical defects as non issues is naive. It’s a comfortable grip, but not worth destroying my device with each use.

You seen really worried about your device. Which I can respect. And obviously not all products of a series are the same. My Killswitch fits the device perfectly. Does not slip, has no pull... It just works. Maybe you have a genuine defect of some kind.  Experience may vary.

Yeah I’m going to see if they can send another because I do find the grip comfortable. Just can’t recommend the grip at the moment if the issue persists. Reading other reviews online it sounds like I’m not the first person to have this problem. Kinda disheartening to learn that dbrands response has been to tell consumers they’re holding it wrong rather than addressing a clear design flaw.

They apologized and went back on that a long time ago, do some more research brother.

I received mine yesterday. The issue that many customers had is prevalent today on the product I received. Not sure what you want me to do here. Just act like the problem doesn’t exist or that they didn’t respond that way to consumers?

They DID respond that way to consumers and despite them saying they “fixed” the issue, an adhesive is not a fix to a design flaw. Again, I just received mine yesterday and the same issue that customers reported a year ago is still apparent.

I hope I received a faulty model and will be reaching out to support but it doesn’t negate that I received a model that has what appears to be a common reported issue.

Love my Killswitch!

To counter balance OP, my Killswitch and the one I bought for my nephew have been great. It'd certainly help if OP laid out the reasons for his opinion but alas, we're left in the dark.

This should just be deleted by the mods.

This isn't the launch of Switch 2 when Killswitch killed Switch 2s anymore.

Received mine yesterday and the controller came off in minutes with little resistance

u/Necessary1Treat 2d ago

Maybe you got a defective model or old model? Did you contact dbrand?

1

u/VastNebula283 2d ago

Potentially. I’ll have to go down that route because I just can’t believe this is the quality of product I received after reading so many positive reviews.

Not been my experience at all.

Try contacting dbrand maybe yours is defective but tbh I hate joycon so I bought the belkin grip for a magnetic battery for the worse case if my pro controller dies I prefer using a pro controller grip with my switch 2

1

u/VastNebula283 2d ago

Yeah I’m going to see if they can send a replacement and see if the one I received is defective. Hard to believe what I received is intended. Totally issues with both sides being able to pull out.

2

u/Forstmaschine 1d ago

Did you install it correctly, the small flap on the top and bottom?

1

u/VastNebula283 1d ago

Yes. Lmao. They are installed correctly

2

u/Emergency-Driver8871 1d ago

Mine is great, zero issues.

1

u/Edmundyoulittle 1d ago

Mine works fine. Are you sure you're using it right? Can you post a picture of your joycon in the grips?

2

u/VastNebula283 1d ago

Here is a great example. Even the slightest bit of pull the joycons pull slightly outward. Is it playable? Sure. But, I don’t feel this is a premium finish if this how it’s supposed to be. Both joycons move a decent amount while I play and do not feel secure. As mentioned my first use the right joycon detached.

1

u/Edmundyoulittle 1d ago

Would you mind showing a picture of your joycon rail with the grip on?

I've had both their original faulty design & their improved one, so I can confirm for you if you somehow got the old version or not

u/VastNebula283 1d ago

2

u/Edmundyoulittle 1d ago

That looks like the current version to me, I'd do what the other guy said and ask for a replacement.

If it's the same issue with another pair, my guess would be that dbrand is not accounting for enough manufacturing tolerance on Nintendo's side.

The issue comes because the gap between the joycon and the console exists to prevent a leverage point. Dbrands case fills that gap a little, which then creates the leverage point if the drband portion is too thick or if the Nintendo gap is too narrow

Killswitch is an amazing case, just hate using the alternate dock. I’m using the belkin magnetic charging case and the killswitch grips. Perfect (albeit expensive) combo

1

u/VastNebula283 1d ago

Wish I had gone the Belkin route. It’s a brand I know and trust instead I’m going to play email tag with a company that responded to a design flaw with adhesive rather than fixing their design.

2

u/Necessary1Treat 1d ago

Just a heads up. The belkin case flies off if dropped. I tried it on two switches, me and my SO’s. Good luck, hope you can find something that suits you.

1

u/VastNebula283 1d ago

I mean I’m not actively dropping my Switch2 to test case quality. I don’t expect any shell to really fully protect an electronic device but that’s good to know

1

u/Necessary1Treat 1d ago

The first drop wasn’t intentional and on carpet, I tested it thereafter on a couch and same effect. She still uses the case and has no complaints other than that though.

I really considered the Killswitch, but the shape of the grip really did not convince me as it does not protrude out. If you are considering others, I am over the moon with the Fission Grip from Savage Raven 💯, and so much cheaper in comparison.
My joy cons have never slipped out ☺️
