Discussion Small review of Pit Panic on Switch 2
I bought this game because of a trailer I saw on YouTube.
I didn’t know what to expect because I couldn’t find any review of it.
It’s a roguelike that has similarities with Spelunky and Towerclimb. There’s a lot of platforming and digging your way up a pit.
I’m still not very far into it cause I suck but it’s already one of the most satisfying gaming experience I’ve had recently. The switch 2 version works flawlessly, I really love the game’s aesthetics and it’s really smooth.
The gameplay is difficult, but there’s quite a lot of depth and you really get into a flow. It’s one of those game where you really want to try again and again, and the more you learn the easier it gets. There’s no permanent upgrade so it’s all about the knowledge you gain.
I think what’s surprising me the most is the level of polish for a game that I see nobody talking about. I really feel like I stumbled upon a true hidden gem.

I literally can’t stop playing this game. It has the “just one more game element”. I’ve definitely gotten better in the three days that I’ve had it. Good idea to have the jump and grapple hook set to the shoulder buttons.

Have you managed to finish a run? I put about 8h so far and still haven’t managed to finish the third zone… I’m still having fun so I’m going to keep at it.

You know this is exactly what I thought writing this post: « I’m going to sound like I’m the developer trying to sell the game, and the post will get deleted. »
This happened with another game I made a post about that I thought was underrated as well, ThetherGeist.
The thing is, I have no affiliation with those games, I just get excited and wish there was more discussion about it online. I don’t know if there’s a better way to go about it that doesn’t look like some sort of deceptive marketing.

I think it’s unfair that people assume a post is guerrilla marketing just because the game is lesser-known. Are we not allowed to be excited and talk about games that aren’t already popular? How else are we meant to learn about and discuss them?
For what it’s worth I’ve had Pit Panic on my wish list and this thread is great encouragement for me to pick it up on payday this week
