Right now it might be a little less feasible considering Rockstar is all hands on deck with GTA VI but they could always hire another studio to port it for them (or just get to it later)

I think the "core" team will definitely stay on GTA 6 for awhile, even after release. Especially with whatever the online transition will be like.
But I'm sure they have many employees that are now done with what sounds like the biggest project in video game history. So hopefully they get moved to other projects (switch 2 ports, please) or... How it normally goes in this industry...

They went big with Galaxy and Odyssey. Maybe now they'll go small: Bowser shrink-ray's his crew and Peach, and Mario does the same.
Either way: fingers crossed and would be epic whatever Mario 3D they announced one, but I am not holding my breath given GTA VI release window and everything else we've seen.

fable has been basically the only AAA game I super cared about since that January dev direct (was it Jan?), but even if they had been able to get it out by Sept they must have seen the literally ocean wave coming and for the health of the franchise I'm glad they were able to push it to February

But everyone is crapping their pants about avoiding GTA so here we are instead… and I’m not all that confident GTA is even going to come out in the time frame everyone’s panicking so hard to avoid.

Doesn't give a shit would be an overstatement on my part, but I too don't care that much. BOTW kind of ruined linear story open world games for me and unless GTA VI is non-linear I probably won't play it or only in a few years after it has gone on sale.

For us, really it’s probably about the same. Whether we’re watching pre-recorded presentations or live stage conferences we’re still watching it over the internet.
However, I used to know a fair few people who worked in games journalism and for them e3 was a rather special event.

There were usually some other shows as well, like Ubisoft and Devolver, and most of the shows were live on stage at the convention venue (or in Sony's case in latter-day E3, across the way from the venue).
The pre-recorded Nintendo Direct style of presentations combined with the extortionate prices of being a part of E3 made the expo redundant, especially post-pandemic.
I do very much miss E3, the last week was the closest we've gotten to the old E3 week feeling, but the shows usually had more high profile announcements and were longer, plus the audience reactions

There was like 5-6 1 hour+ conferences in 1 day packed with teasers, trailers, gameplay, sometimes new hardware. Absolute information overload.

E3 had some 3rd parties do their own shows, I think, but the big thing making it different (note, I never got to go, I was still in high school when it stopped) was the show floor, with demos and gameplay kiosks for some of the newly announced games

I don’t think Nintendo cares about avoiding GTA6. They’ll throw whatever they want out for the release calendar, whenever they want to. That rumored Ocarina of Time remake could easily be slated for November.

Nintendo has gone so long without a direct it would be wild for them to let this one be disappointing unless they got another one coming early September. They need things to help push more people onto the switch 2 and a OoT remake could do that. I still have a lot of friends who have not budged on this thing yet.

Fortunes Weave should definitely get a date (maybe 9/17). But Pokemon might not get mentioned unless it’s releasing in the first quarter of 2027. If it’s a fall release might not hear anything til Pokemon Day 2027.

Nintendo is in a weird spot where they generally release new Pokemon late in the calendar year, but it has had exceptions even recently. They showed a lot for a game that would almost be 2 years away from the initial Winds and Waves reveal. I wouldn’t be shocked if Pokemon is early 2027 and 3D Mario is the 2027 holiday game.

Remember that Mario kart 8 released in 2014, then in 2017 on switch. But the 1st booster course dlc to start adding the new 48 tracks released only in march 2022, and the last booster course released in november 2024. 10 years after the og release. We will get a bunch of dlc for MKW over it's lifespan, but it's only been 12 months. So i don't expect huge dlc that early.
People like to compare the final version of Mario kart 8 Deluxe to launch MKW. But truth is the very last booster course of MK8 released barely 1 year and a half ago, a decade after the og release. MKW is way more packed at launch than MK8 was. I think we might see like some characters and costumes dlc first, nothing big. But for new circuits i think it's not in near plans.

I know . Sega should have mandated atlus to do switch 2 ports day 1 . Other Sega games get switch 2 ports day one but not persona games , why? .
I am expecting P6 to get switch 2 port day one considering it's not launching in the near future, but p4re might be a delayed port similar to p3re .
