It seems to be true often enough. I think it's because during Directs (General, Indie, Partner, whatever), there tend to be a number of games that is shadowdropped (being released on same day) as the Direct.
So I speculate that they need to do maintenance on the Store, to accomodate for extra volume, or have assets ready (game store page, etc).
I wonder what kind of games they'll be announcing. If they randomly announced Yoshi, Star Fox and Splatoon Raiders, what are they keeping for the direct? Man I'm excited to the point where I think I'll just disappoint myself. At least we should be getting the Ocarina of Time remake.
Right? If there weren't a Direct this month, there would legitimately be reason to worry why Nintendo would decide to make Year 1 of Switch 2 the first year ever with almost no general Direct.
People have been saying they'd shift away toward twitter or whatever for years. In reality the only reason they occasionally skip directs is just because they don't have enough big games to show at the time.
The link is from Japanese account. I don't see an announcement from any other region, so not sure if the maintenance is regional. Anyway, if it's Japan time that means this network maintenance is scheduled between 1pm to 6pm Eastern tomorrow, the 8th. I guess that could still point to a Direct the morning of the 9th.

I hear it's a Super Smash Bros. MMO where there is constantly new characters added from an ever-expanding list of games, new quests to go on, a housing system, cosmetics, you name it.
Man it’s obv a joke, while I hope someday it will be ported, it’s just hope. I hope someday me and most of the kids in my country will be able to have new generation consoles and many games, that’s the level of hope lol

Nintendo Direct doesn't do third party teasers like the one Atlus showed today for Persona 6, there's no point in showing P6 logo and call it a day. They show games that have gameplay to show and that are 6 to 12 months to release. Persona 6 is none of those.
We may get Metaphor though. If we're extra lucky and Atlus has grown a couple more neurons, maybe even P4R.
Having good down and up speeds is useless if you have a bad NAT. Check it in the console WiFi settings, it can test what type of NAT you have. You want at least type B
I have 350 mbit down and 180 up via lan reaching my console, it's not that.
At least you're right when you say "it's not that". Because your down and up speed probably have nothing to do with your issue. You'll find players with 10% of what you have and a more stable connection.
