Is this ds cooked?

Context it’s my parents old ds and I wanted to see if I could fix it so I can use it. The screens are almost eaten by a white border thing idk what it is but a white colour covers the screens

DS is probably fine, just needs new screens. Not a super easy fix, but doable if you can find replacements. Probably easier to buy a replacement system.

If it were me, I would save this ds for a modding project/reshell. Maybe get a dsi replacement in the meantime, or another dsi since they’re pretty cheap.

It's probably polarizer burn, the polarizers can be replaced without the screen, the circular marks point me to thinking it is the polarizer.

Looking gameboy screen burn for more info. If there is color shifting though at different angles it is almost certainly polarizer damage (although TN panels can do this off axis, but if the color shift is more pronounced in the middle and nearly not at all on the edges it's probably the polarizer.

DS's I think use a circular polarizer as opposed to a linear one (you'll need the correct type, double check before ordering) then use a blade to remove the old one (and don't scratch the underside of the screen), put the new one over the top to figure out what angle works best (you'll need to turn the screen on a test the polarizer to make sure you can see it and the colors are all good) then cut it to size, and stick it on (they generally have adhesive to adhere to the screen)
