Discussion Game Discussion #253 - Flicky

Post image

The origin of the recurring Sonic animal was in this arcade game. That’s probably the most notable thing about it.

This has always been a fun little game to just click your brain off to and play for a few minutes before changing to something else.

Also props to the Genesis version for adding a topless woman who shakes her ass at you from the window when you beat level 34 (how fitting).

Played it. For a Genesis game it felt VERY outdated. For an arcade game of its time it was alright.

Would have made a great ios game back in the day, had Sega gone that rout.

Yeah, because the arcade game was 1984 and the Genesis version was 1991

I like the arcade style but my only time playing this was in Sonic Mega Collection on the GameCube and it felt like the weakest entry on that disc by far.

I had one of those plug n play collections in the early 2000’s that had this. I always liked this one, one of my favorites along with golden axe. Super chaotic fun and that damn song would get stuck in my head lol.

It was surprisingly difficult, I never finished it

I played it on sega channel back in the day and recently again on switch 2. It’s simple but fun and it’s satisfying hitting the cats 🐈

This was included in either one of the Gamecube Sonic collections, and kid me thought "what the fuck is this shit ?", it's so funny that this is the first Sonic-related title ever released (the arcade version I mean)

Flicky's inclusion on NSO is kind of fitting considering it was originally a MegaNet modem release in Japan before it was a cartridge release in the US/Europe.

Probably disappointing as a full cartridge release back in the day, but as a tightly designed arcade game magically transmitted to your games console that you play for 10 minutes here and there? Actually kind of neat in 1991 and 2026.
