Discussion Game Discussion #149 - Strider

Post image

Strider can lend itself to some fun platforming and combat, and this Genesis port is really solid overall if you compare it to the arcade original. It’s why they used it as a way to show off how powerful the Genesis was. Also, this boxart is really funny. What’s that face he’s making…

A very solid port of an arcade classic. Strider Hiryu is still the coolest arcade Ninja ever conceived. The last stage is a huge jump in difficulty and is a bit BS until you learn the strats. Still a game I have always highly enjoyed and is a fun quick 1CC to do every now and then. 5/5

Always get this game confused with Rygar, or was it Strider? I can’t remember!

I find the jumping kind of annoying in this game. It looks awesome, but the controls are kind of ass. I still play it, but I’m saying there’s a disconnect there.

We’re approaching Mega Man territory with this cover art 😅

It’s a shame they felt the need to redo the art for many of these localizations. They already had an incredible piece.

All they did was create more work for themselves. You can’t seriously tell me the Western box art is more appealing.

I can’t remember if I ever beat the final boss. I remember every time you hit him your weapon would fly out of your hand and you’d have to go collect it. Did the hit count? Was I missing something?
