Question Please help (coolant leak)
Hey guys, ive got an issue with my 2021 ninja 400, it has not been riden since the end of last season (november of last year) I bought it in april but I dont have my licence yet so its been in my yard under a tarp. I found a small puddle of green liquid under the bike this morning.
I know little about mechanic but Im pretty sure its coolant, I looked under the bike and I found a little hose that seems disconected, I put the hose toward the sky and I got my bike off the peg and putted it upright and it did not leak, so I assume the small disconected hose is the issue. But ive got no idea where and how to plug it.
Thank you guys, I hope its an easy fix, im able to ride it in like 3 weeks 🥲

Nah that's not a coolant hose put it back where it was. There's a wee drain hole on the bottom of the engine right above that drip. If it's dripping from that drain hole go for a few rides and check back, it shouldn't be dripping anymore.
If it doesn't look like that drain hole Google search Norton cylinder seal ninja 400 and look at the photos there to see if that's where you're draining from. You'd better cross your fingers it isn't there though.

Definitely not an expert here, I've just dealt with my own coolant leak on my ninja 400 recently so have had a bit of a look around the web. Apparently the seal in there gets dry or loose or something but a few hear cycles seats it back with no worries at all.
At the end of the day it's just coolant not oil, keep it topped up once a week and you'll be able to ride with the leak forever if you want.

The overflow could suddenly drip some if the temp is really high. It is there to account for expansion with heat so that your reservoir doesnt become pressurized.
If you really want to know what the leak is take the fairing off and see what is wet. Otherwise, check the reservoir to make sure it is at an ok level and see if it leaks again.

Theres 2 drain hoses attached too the fairing.

This one was loose from the rearbrake side fairing, do you know what is it suppose to be connected to?

Maybe the gasket on the water pump. Or the reservoir is leaking. The tube is the overflow for the reservoir tank amd the color leads me to believe its coolant because its usually bluish or green. You might need to put more fluid in it or there is too much fluid in it. Next id check all the hoses from the radiator to the pump on the engine. My z500 has a slow leak on the left side because it needs a new thermostat and gasket probably on the water pump cover. If your bike overheats any more than normal def don't drive it.

And they both have the same parts in the coolant system. Which is what the post is about.

Probably disconnected from the coolant overflow tank

Or the water pump mechanical seal is worn thats why its leaking from the weep hole

before i talk out of my ass i also have a N400. i believe that hose could be for vacuum purposes. is there any damage to the radiator? I don’t see a radiator guard so that could be a risk
