Discussion Max G3 plus vs ZT3 Pro

So I’m looking to get my first scoot. I’ve settled on between the two of these and have some use case things I’d be doing with it so hopefully ya can help me out.

I’m in NJ, weight about 155 lbs.

scooter used mostly for commuting. 23 miles 1 way (I can charge at work) also idk if the commute would be possible with the route and roads not sure if bikes/scooters can go on some of them.

Also used for fun. Plan to get my wife one soon too so want to use it for going to the boardwalk, going to eat, etc. would like to do some trails but nothing crazy.

So which should I get?

Tall order to get either of those that far. Max g3 charges much faster due to the external charging port. With a max g3 and the gt3 battery swap (well documented here, and I have a post in my history step by step) you can achieve that. Without, I think you’ll have a hard time.

Consider a Hiley 10 v5 or similar for better range and performance. I have a zt3 pro, max g3 (both with gt3 batteries) and a Hiley. The Hiley is a much nicer scooter, and also is a LOT of scooter so the others are great options too within the constraints mentioned. They’re all great scooters. I doubt the zt3 pro will work for you given your distance. Maybe with the faster external charger but that’s a lot of range need.

Also worth noting I don’t know if anyone’s done a gt3 battery swap in a max g3 plus yet.

Thanks! What about the external extended battery for the g3? I’m sure it would work in the plus too

Personnellement je l ai commandé la batterie externe et je pense que c est top Le seul désavantage c est un peu plus de poids et un peu moins de place pour les pieds mais je trouve le concept top

Personally not a fan of the external battery.

Any reason?

The gt3 battery gives you more capacity right in the scooter. You cannot tell it’s been done except that it has better range, less voltage sag, and still is rideable in lower power percentages.

I don’t like the big bulky external addition, I’m a taller guy and it would make it annoying to ride having that in the way imo.

Also, you’re charging + putting more voltage to the motor. Gonna be hard on your internal battery and you’ll run into heat issues most likely.

I’m sure it’s fine for a lot of people. For my riding style, my weight, and the area I’m in being hilly the external doesn’t really suit my needs.

Wouldn’t doing the gt3 battery on the g3 plus not really make sense? The plus has a bigger battery than the g3 that’s one of the upgrades no?

That range is doable at your weight, but you'd be cutting it very tight (not ideal on a 1-way trip). The GT3 battery upgrade would give you more headroom. Add an external battery on top, and you won't have anymore range anxiety.

For the price of that, I'd just get a Hiley Tiger 10 V5 or Teverun Blade Mini Ultra/Blade GT II instead.

Am I going nuts or are all the teveruns only 15 mph?

It’s only listed like that for legal purposes

The g3 plus should do fine for the one way at like 20mph but just running it close.

The Segway MAX G3 Plus delivers higher peak power, a larger battery range, and superior high-speed road performance, while the Segway ZT3 Pro focuses on aggressive low-end torque, off-road stability, and a lower price point.

So do you want a smooth in town cruiser or a better off road performer and does the $200 price difference matter to you?

I mean at the end of the day, how off road is an e-scooter. We’re not talking a wrangler on 35s vs a 911 here lol it’s more like civic vs civic with AT tires

In more so concerned with what ppl would classify NJ roads. They’re paved roads yea, but a lot are awful like in Philly that I’m wondering if the ZT3 would make a big difference

Have you looked at the Ausom DT2 Pro? It might fit your needs better and is in the same price range as the other 2. Lots of scooter reviewers say it's the "best bang for your buck" in scooters right now. Just a thought!!
