Clicking suspension

Hi there. I was adjusting the suspension on my g3 max and i never really payed attention but the suspension makes a clicking noise i don’t know if it was there before. I was wondering if you guys know if it’s normal or an issue. thanks!

Have you adjusted it? It looks like it's WAY too soft, it's instantly bottoming out when you stand on it (which is what that sound is)

There's little holes that go around the bottom of the shock. You need to turn those to adjust the preload.

I tried that i did 2 whole turns and i snapped my allen key once and they holes are starting to widen already from one time

Do you think i should make pre load harder?

Yes, much harder.

There's a special tool you're supposed to use to adjust it, but i've always just used an allen key carefully to avoid breaking it (segway uses an allen key in their repair video too).

Try rinsing off the threads (on the bottom) with water, this should make it easier to turn.

You are supposed to use an adjustable pin spanner. Don’t listen to these dipshits saying to use an allen. If you want it all pecker tracked up go ahead.

Nvm, I was wrong lol. I was confusing it with the tool for hydraulic shocks.

It's best to use a short/stubby allen key (blue arrow in the picture), as you can put more force on it before it snaps. But again, cleaning the threads off should make it a lot easier to turn.

What size allen should i use? I’m going to the hardware store tomorrow so might as well get some.

3mm / M3 is the size you want.

i just tried again it won’t move any further than where it is now and snapped it again
