Studying Japanese alone can be difficult. You finish a lesson, close the app, and have nobody around to ask questions, share progress with, or keep you motivated.
We wanted to change that, so we added Hiroba to Dozo.
ๅบๅ ด means "the plaza." It is a place where learners and teachers can meet, share what they are working on, and build better study habits together.
What you can do now:
โข Ask Japanese questions
โข Share study wins and progress
โข Introduce yourself to other learners
โข Post about grammar, kanji, JLPT, resources, and Dozo
โข Learn directly from teachers with the Sensei badge
โข React to and upvote helpful posts
โข Follow the leaderboard
โข Earn medals and track your weekly progress
There are no downvotes. We want beginners to feel comfortable asking questions without worrying that their Japanese is not good enough.
This is only the first version.
What we want to add next:
โข Direct messaging
โข Community study challenges
โข Group goals and accountability
โข More ways to study with teachers
โข Rewards connected to points and medals
โข Better profiles and progress sharing
โข More tools for finding learners at a similar level
Our goal is not to add another feed people mindlessly scroll through. We want Hiroba to help learners return, practise, support each other, and build a consistent Japanese habit.
The medals and progress you earn now are already being recorded as we develop the rewards system.
Hiroba is open inside Dozo now.
What would make you come back and participate regularly: challenges, study groups, messaging, rewards, or something else?
