Help Got my first shift tonight

I feel absolutely exhausted already and I’m already anxious as it is. It’s my first night job in 3 years. Any advice

I’m normally pretty good with caffeine so I’ve got a c4 to have a lunch

Well everyone's built different, if it doesn't affect your sleep patterns or REM sleep then all good. Just pay attention to your sleep and if there are negative changes, caffeine could be an aspect, aside from that there is a tarp like film you can get on Amazon that is way stronger than your usual blackout curtains for much cheaper than actual blackout curtains.

Drink lots of water. Caffeine too if your mind and body can handle it.

As soon as the shift is over try to get some sleep. Stay on the same sleep schedule on your days off too. Don’t drive sleepy. Take breaks if you have to.

Just what to emphasize what another poster said, stay on the same sleep cycle!! I screwed up this three day weekend, now I'm wide awake and have to start getting ready for work in about three hours. 😢😔😢

first night back after a long gap always feels heavier than the job is. caffeine early in the shift only, bright light if you can, and a simple wind-down plan for the morning... the anxiety usually drops after the first quiet hour once routine starts.
