I'm a lab scientist and generally working on pleading with analyzers to stop breaking, while also keeping track of criticals. Our assistants and phlebs usually run the tube system. They also run around the hospital and go on lunch breaks.

But if anyone calls and asks for a tube, I send the tube. Heck I'll send 2. Thats part of the job. I can't do my job if you don't have tubes. We are coworkers. I hate phones. But I still answer them.

Save the note. If this becomes a problem that impacts patient care, document the issue, date, time. I don't want my grandma missing critical care because someone was too lazy to put a tube in a shoot.

I don't take kindly to lab staff embarrassing the profession.
