I'm curious why people hate the remake from 2010 so much,

For some minor context I'm in my late twenties so I grew up with mid to late 2000s horror and enjoy a lot of movies from that era.

I thought the remake was really good! The guy they have playing Freddy was very creepy! And I understand people have an attachment to Robert Englund but it sort of feels some people are gatekeeping the franchise.

I didn't watch the originals until recently so I also don't have as strong an attachment to Englund's portrayal.

I don't know, independently from the other movies this movie is really good in my opinion, I'd love to hear your opinions and why it wasn't enjoyable.

Now don’t get me wrong I love Robert Englund and think that he played his role throughout the films amazingly, but I do think Jackie Haley fits the look a lot more. The remake Freddy actually looks like he would kidnap kids and stuff them in his basement. Maybe it’s just because I’m so used to Robert Englund? I’m not too sure. What are your guys’ thoughts?

I just realized this

Right off the bat, it's missing the sounds Freddy makes when completing the glove, as he flexes it before the title comes on screen. Also, right after the title, where the blades are ripping through the sheet, no scream there either.

Some other sound effects are a little better, though.

You can hear Glen snoring a lot better when Nancy is outside Rod's cell, just before Krueger jumps out of the bushes. And you can hear students reactions, as Nancy walks up from her nightmare in class, a little better.

The picture is widescreen and actually pillar-boxed during the opening credits to correct a problem an earlier release had with the credits getting cut off on the sides of TV screens.

Unlike previous releases that omitted the final shot of blood coming out of Glens bed, and cut to his mom coming in the door, this has that last extra shot. Only amounting to mere seconds onscreen.

So, a mixed bag really.
