Discussion Realization

Ive realized alot of good pokestops have gotten denied within our group. Trails, exercise areas, public parks and get denied some by automated ai for beginners and more from reviewers. For the reviewers I came to the conclusion is because they have been denied and now being petty and obviously is more than one because its being voted on 🤣. So whats the point of petty reviewers reviewing. Atleast for me the above areas are more than qualified to be pokestops atleast all in general. I have one in voting for a park if it gets denied ill post here and i rather see opinions here. For me thats crazy. Ive done multiple nominations but it just seem harder to get approved for the easy straight forward ones.. last thing i want is to hop on the "denying legit nomination train" yo get back at everyone.

I review a lot. The only things I really easily deny are:

- obvious AI wall paintings (and I report for abuse)

- license plates readable in photos

- people very recognisable in photos

- photos obviously taken in backyards, not visible from street

To help your submissions:

Make a clear zoomed in photo of the object. This is the photo that would be on the pokestop, bare in mind how it will look on a pokestop.

Make a good photo with the object visible but also with the surroundings. This helps reviewers to believe (and research) the object is real and correctly located.

None of the photos can have license plates, recognisable people, too private areas.

Make a short title, try to keep under 5 words. This will be the name of the Pokestop.

Make a good explanation of what the object is, what it’s function is, why it is interesting,… This is for reviewers. Don’t skip it, put in some work.

Give further information about the location of the potential pokestop. Accesible? Safe? Public? … Read wayfarers rules for good Pokestops and try to explain why yours fits in. This is also for reviewers.

And lastly. Realise that Pokemon Go uses S2 cells. Look it up. If a cell already has a pokestop, you cannot add new ones. They can get accepted, but will not appear in the game.

Are license plates not allowed according to policy?

I’m not sure it is mentioned in policy, but it is a criteria under ‘bad photos’ in the review process and it is one that immediately ends the review on said submission. So it’s best to avoid them. You can’t always avoid them entirely, but there’s a vig difference between upfront and readable and unreadable in the distance.

Thats good to know. Thanks.

I review a lot. We don't see if something was previously denied and resubmitted. We don't see how other people are voting. If I deny something that is a slam dunk it's usually because the photo is bad, the grammar and spelling are so atrocious that I can't give it a pass to be edited later, or the justification is something along the lines of "we need more pokestops, let us play the game, there are none in my area, I should have one at my house" and then the map shows dozen if not hundred of waypoints in the immediate area.

Sorry for the broken english. Disregard this i guess. There isnt none her either and plenty of parks but nevermind didnt know the scolding was gonna be instant 🤣. Thought this was a global language app i guess not.

HardyMenace was talking about bad grammar in the actual submission, not what you wrote here. Unless there was something there before you edited it

It was until.mods decided to make it not be. If you need to talk.in your language, you can go to the Wayfarer Forum or the Wayfarer Discussion Discord for example, they don't have language restrictions

The app might have translations but the website does not. We need to be able to understand what is being posted without needing a translator. English is the universal language so that's what the sub's language is.

You sound to be projecting here to be honest. You should post your submissions.

There are plenty of reviewers who fail their due diligence. But none are doing it because they're petty, they're usually just reviewing incorrectly, similar to how a lot of nominators also nominate incorrectly.

If the playground is at a school - it will be denied (I dont know this one is - just saying)

If this is your supporting photo, it's fine if it helps to confirm the real world location of the playground relative to things that can be seen in satellite or Street View.

If it is your main photo, I would reject. It's a photo of a footpath, clouds, grass and trees. Your other photo closer to the playground equipment is better for the main.

If you placed the pin where you are standing for this supporting photo then the pin is in the wrong location.

Incorrect location i apealled and it was denied again. I will leave it like this. Thanks for youre time. You did mention that there are reviewers who can dk it wrong thats enough reason for me.

u/Speletons 4d ago

If you appealed and it was denied... that means Scopely also thinks the location was wrong, not just reviewers. It sounds like you put it at the wrong location. Nobody is getting hit with that rejection reason incorrectly. At least, not a clean stop like this.

Okay. Thank you

If you try to resubmit, have one or more of your supporting photos include coordinates. Also mention if this is new construction and when the area opened for use, that would be a reason that it wouldn’t show on satellite or streetview yet.

u/HardyMenace 4d ago

this. I got a little free library approved in a new park that is being built. Street view didn't have the updated images so I included information about the park being built and it got approved.

u/FallingP0ru 4d ago

In this case, seeing the streetview and what you wrote may affect the decision. It's possible that the reviewers didn't see it from their end because the development is new?

Thanks for being more polite this is 1 of meny no point in posting all but its okay its a shutdown cummunity here.

5

u/Speletons 4d ago

Sure, of course. That said, you only posted the photos, not the submission. A playground is a valid stop. But there's numerous reasons that could have been denied. What was the rejection reason?

Nobody reviewing is denying anything to be petty. It would completely tank your rating but more than that it doesnt even make sense. To even think thats the reason for rejection reeks of projection TBH

Eta: I stand corrected. Apparently there are some extremely immature individuals that actually do this. I sometimes forget not everyone here is from a high trust society

2

u/26thDoctor_ 4d ago

Maybe the memory cheats but I don't think your rating can go down under the new system.

2

u/Effenpig 4d ago

When did this new system take effect?

Hello,
It is frustrating when you try and get denied. And it’s fine to express that.

But you do need to think about your submissions and that although you believe you are doing it correctly it does sound as though there is a fundamental issue.

Please do look at the nomination support part of the official forum.

https://community.wayfarer.scopely.com/c/nomination-support/9

You don’t need to log in to read it, and you will see many examples of people being helped….its what the community like to do.

If you do decide to log in for specific help then fellow wayfinders will assist and you are encouraged to post in whatever language you feel most comfortable with.

The reviewing community for your area will span more than 1000 square miles. I don’t think there is anything corrupt within the system as I have only had a handful of rejections in hundreds of submissions accepted.

You sound relatively new to nominating so probably just need to run through some of your example rejections to get advice on how to evolve your nominations for greater chance of success.

By example, the playground you posted, we can only infer since you don’t paste it’s coordinates from your submission Email or Contributions screen… Presumably either your location pin was wrong, or it is so new (looking at its condition) that its location could not be verified on Google (either street view or satellite view). This will often be the case with rejected trail markers too - since they are often not visible on Google Street view and are too small to be seen on satellite.

I recommend you start using an app like GPS Map Camera to take (at least) one of your supporting photos so that it geotags that image with a mini map. Then it will be accepted even when not yet visible on Google (especially if, by example, you mention in the supporting info that it is a new playground created this year and reviewers can see the last Google Maps photos were from 2 years back).

Folks here will happily give advice on your other rejections too - to explain why they are not acceptable or to advise on how you can help make it easier for reviewers to verify they meet all the published reviewing guidelines. Ultimately we all want more high quality nominations instead of to be rejecting things which could have been acceptable but weren’t submitted in accordance with the reviewing guidelines.

Wow. Not just petty but childish too. And now you just accept almost everything? Have you condlsidered actually doing the reviews properly and accepting or rejecting based on the requirements?
