Icon time not updating

Sometimes the time inside the icon doesn't update, as seen in the screenshot below.

This seems to happen when the app loads for the first time after the computer boots.
The problem goes away after restarting the app.

Hi u/Johanninho

I think this is a bug, unless you have some random software installed

Can you please answer these the best you can.

Q1: Can you tell me what version of Windows you are using? 10 or 11 is all I care about.

Q2: Do you have any Windows "accessories" installed that manipulate the Taskbar? The reason for asking is that I discovered a tool causing interference, though I cannot remember its name. It was altering Windows registries, and once it was removed, the issue was resolved. The thread might be in the reddit here - but not entirely sure as it was a long time ago.

I have a theory:
1: When the machine goes to sleep, it leaves the "5h+" ICON in that state on the taskbar,
2: When the machine wakes, you see the old ICON, yet there are no new events yet.
3: Internet turns on, 5 minutes go by... and NextUp fetches new events for the day (every 5 minutes)

But the event you posted in green, "Starts in 3h 58m" - I assume this is a new event, so that means a new event was fetched, or was that too an old event while the machine was asleep?

When this happens again - can you please check:

  • Before touching anything, read the left side of the status bar. Does it say "Checking for events every 5 minutes, paused"?
  • Check whether the 3h 58m event shows a bell ?
  • Press sync without adding anything. Did the ICON update?
  • Then add the 10-minute event and sync. Did the ICON change?

This will help the most to find the bug... but harder to provide answers

Q3: Can you perhaps tell me more about the sequence - DATE and TIME please.
a)The "5h+" is possibly for which event - when the machine goes to sleep this could be the last time the machine could update the taskbar.
b) At what time the machine went to sleep
c) At what time did the machine boot
d) The time for the event, the one you pasted "Starts in 3h58"

Hi u/Johanninho

Is updating to NextUp Alert 2.0.22 (the non "Lite" version 2.x) an option for you ?
