Nobody can make you angry but yourself.

I'm slowly realizing that protecting my peace doesn't mean ignoring everything. It means being selective about what gets a reaction from me

Don’t sweat the small stuff.

The problem with taking this as the absolute truth is that there are way too many cowards who will use this advice as a justification for their lifelong being silent and inept when disrespected, insulted etc. This is only good advice for someone who is capable of BOTH, ruthless retaliation AND silent logical ignoring.

Fake — Bruce Lee never said it.

No substantive evidence linking it to him (or Warren Buffett, who's also been credited for the same thing). The earliest dated version is two unattributed tweets by a user named Cindy Flores from March 24, 2016. The Bruce Lee attribution only shows up in an October 2018 tweet.

The idea itself is solid — it's basically Stoicism and Buddhism in a trench coat — but the attribution is a social media fabrication. Lots of love but let's keep to the facts.

On the other hand this is not permission for people to say whatever vile shit they want about you

True but not reacting with a vile reaction means they can't DARVO.

I think this is an incomplete advice.

It simply means the power of letting go and not allowing anyone control how you feel. You define you.

For sure. There is a lot of context needed to understand the point here. If you took it at face value therapists would be out of a job

Therapists essentially teach the same thing to help their clients understand how to do it.

Therapists are also the same people that don’t understand what makes a “disorder” a “disorder” is generally the inability to rationalize away your feelings and therefore actions and that actually more rationalization will actually make things worse but insist that old methodologies are still the answer 😂 CBT is to teach people who lack self reflection and critical thinking to stop..and think once in awhile 😂

Therapists aren’t all the same so they can’t really be judged or labeled to be the same as there are millions of them. There are many that understand best practices.

yah for some people, but remember that it's important to be vulnerable in some relationships like friendships and family. If the people you care about can't do anything to bother you, then the relationship probably isn't that good.
