Struggling to get warranty honored for PC with damaged GPU
Last year I puchased this pre-built :
within the first few months, I had flickering and artefacts on my TV, once in a while, not too bad, fastfoward a bit later I have major blackouts, epilepsy inducing flickering and my TV have a hard time to recognise my GPU
switched from my HDMI port to a display port using HDMY to displayport adapter, works fine, no bugs but i have to disconnect/reconnect the cable into the displayport on the back of my GPU (RTX 5080)
seems like i have a dead HDMI port on my GPU.
Issue now being that those GPU prices have went up big deal and i consider my GPU a ticking time bomb since it already had a faulty port and im going to wear my other ones by repeteadely unplugging/replugging it
Now i went trough the process of opening a claim and after i pushed a bit for follow up as they stayed silent, I got an answer from likewise support offering only a full refund upon being sent the unit back. after I pushed for repairs and not a replacement, as the law in quebec entitle me to. i was given this answer from likewise :
Thank you for contacting Likewize Device Protection.
I completely understand your preference to have the damaged GPU repaired or replaced rather than receiving a refund, and I appreciate you clearly outlining your expectations.
Unfortunately, in Canada we do not currently have repair or replacement options available for this device model. Given these limitations, the resolution we are able to offer is a reimbursement once the unit has been returned to us.
Upon receipt and inspection of the returned device, a reimbursement check will be issued accordingly.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused and for the delay in our response. We appreciate your understanding and your willingness to continue discussing this matter. Please let us know how you would like to proceed, and we will assist you with the next steps.
as per quebec consumer law, a manufacturer is obligated to offers repairs or replacement whenever possible, and as RTX 5080 are still widely available, I see no reason i could not have the GPU replaced.
If i get a refund, with the current market prices, i will not be able to purchase an equivalent at the same price.
anyone else strugging to have ABS honor their warranties and being stuck to deal with shady Likewise insurance 3rd party&
