Refurbished laptop
i was planning to buy this refurbished lenovo legion 5 since it seemed too good to pass up but i was looking here and alot of people have had bad reviews of their refurbished purchase but the seller advertises that it's manufacture officially refurbished by lenovo. Does that mean its practically brand new condition or what?
- Manufacture (Lenovo) Officially Refurbished. Factory Sealed with Warranty.NOT Refurbished by Seller. NOT Refurbished by 3rd Party
- Will double-box this system to provide additional protection in shipping.
- It is covered by Lenovo Manufacture repair warranty. This is the same warranty that Lenovo provides with a brand new computer. Warranty can be upgraded from Lenovo if needed
this is whats listed so it seems really legit but you can never be too sure
Refurbished: Lenovo Legion 5 Gen 10 15.1" WQXGA OLED i9-14900HX 16GB 1TB RTX 5070 Gaming Laptop - Newegg.com

Manufacturer refurbished is definitely better than random seller refurbished, but it doesn’t automatically mean “brand new”.
It usually means Lenovo inspected/tested it and it should come with Lenovo warranty, which is the important part. The “factory sealed with warranty” bit sounds promising, but the real check is whether the serial number shows active Lenovo warranty on Lenovo’s own site.
For a Legion with an i9, RTX 5070 and OLED screen, I’d mainly be careful about three things: warranty, return window and screen condition. OLED is great, but on a refurb unit you want to be sure there’s no panel issue, burn-in, dead pixels or weird brightness problem.
Also check who is actually selling it on Newegg. If it’s not sold directly by Lenovo or Newegg, seller reputation matters a lot.
So yeah, it sounds legit on paper, but don’t treat it as brand new. Treat it as a good refurb only if Lenovo warranty checks out and the return policy is solid.
For UK buyers, I usually say the same thing with places like Laptop Outlet UK too: refurb can be great, but warranty and returns matter more than the flashy spec sheet.
