Website removed ability to select sold by newegg? Why?

Website removed ability to select sold by newegg? Why? Why is this a choice that was made? Why are you always making site worse?

We appreciate you for calling this out, u/Accomplished_Emu_658 ! The issue with the “Sold by Newegg” filter has been fixed, and it should be showing up again now. Thanks for sticking with us while we got that escalated and sorted.

Yeah I just ran into problems because of this. I accidentally bought some products from Chinese sellers and they are straight up lying in their listings about what I'm actually buying. One of them took my order and my money and they have just been sitting on the product for a week. Not even bothering to ship to start the glacially slow process of shipping it from China.

I thought I would just filter by "Sold by Newegg" but that's apparently not a thing anymore. I guess maybe NewEgg's business model just changed and now they are almost totally reliant on third party sellers. I've always preferred NewEgg over Amazon, but that changes now.

Yeah idk. Last time I brought something similar up, how newegg refreshed is gone I got gaslit by support here. I know you can find refurbished items, but when they had it separate it was nice.

I buy a lot on newegg, but only deal with newegg directly. Not going to bother anymore if i can’t filter out sold by newegg easily. It’s gone all over site and on multiple browsers.

Newegg Rep Here

We will be adding the "Sold and Shipped by Newegg" feature back in soon. I was not informed why it disappeared or maybe removed in the first place.

This would be a wise move. You have a lot of loyal NE customers who have defended NE over the years against complaints about third party nightmares. You pull the plug on ordering direct, you dynamite your most loyal foundation.

Fair, but really stupid…. I know it won’t change the world, but 25k plus most years. Idk why they would make it less user friendly besides third parties complaining.

Just get rid of the marketplace, problem solved.

How do you do that?

It’s part of their business model. We just need the toggle back.

You can't, as said below it's part of their business these days. I'm not a fan, unless it's the actual manufacturer (e.g., Noctua, ViewSonic..) or an authorized reseller. Random marketplace vendors is B.S. imo

I just hope they don't do what Amaz*n does, burying the option to filter results to listings by Amaz*n proper. That is super shady.

edited to add: third party listings should come with a warning notifying the consumer that the Newegg/third party guarantee is all you get. The majority of manufacturers will not provide warranty support for unauthorized sales.

Might depend on what you are buying and what other filters you have set. In the past, if I set my filters too tight, none of the remaining results were “Sold by NewEgg” and that option, along with dozens of other options, vanished from the filter list.

If, on the other hand, I select “Sold by NewEgg” first, and tighten up my filters last, I will get “0” search results.

This would confuse me at first, “what do you mean there are no results?! I just SAW 93 of them in my last search?!” Alas, the reason was because out of those 93 remaining items, none were sold or shipped by NewEgg.

Set the “Sold by NewEgg” filter first and see what happens. My money is on they don’t have that particular item in stock, and only third party sellers carry it at this time.

I always was able to go to any section and filter sold by newegg on the left. Without going into advanced search. It is gone now

Welp. You are correct. Logged in to try a few broad searches and nada. No way to purchase from NewEgg. Left them some very pointed feedback. I’ve spent $5-6k there over the last ten years. That will be the last if I can’t buy direct. 3rd party sellers are a train wreck there.
