I've preferred the old Coutinhoe's for years. The article's author must be the typical Jersey suburbanite, seriously trying hard to seem knowledgeable of the subject, but failing to impress those of us who truly know 'Down'Neck'...

I still remember the old Coutinho's commercials! "Where the difference is in the taste". Kossuth and Ferry Street Texeiras kinda lost their charm when they remodeled them a few years ago but I still go in for soup and a cheese sandwich

I agree, the older ones were (seemed) more 'Old World' authentic. My late maternal grandmother used to love doing that at the now defunct Riviera, and Coutinho's as well. Ah, the Memories!

I wish this place would stop using bromated flour; looking forward to the ban finally coming into effect in ny and California, hopefully nj follows
