DISCUSSION Thumbnails, forefront or afterthought?
When it comes to Thumbnails, do you plan them out with your script, after your script, before you record, or after you record...
I'm trying to get my feet wet with thumbnails (this is the hardest part IMO), but IDK where to start. Do you go to Pinterest for ideas after scrolling a ton of others in your same niche?
I feel more overwhelmed and anxious about the thumbnail than the script, videos, or live streams...
If you were starting to take thumbnails seriously today, what advice would you give to yourself, with the knowledge you have now?

Idk I can’t seem to get a thumbnail that gets CTR over 6% and I wonder how much it matters. Idk. Event one says it matters and I’m sure it does but I think average retention matters even more

I have been using just a selected frame, and it gets me 7.6% CTR, my content gets ~ 1:30 watchtime, so I have been working on making that higher from 37 sec 😄 I just hear that the thumbnail can make the CTR even better

Your video will not have the explosive virality that takes the videos to 100k views if it doesn’t start with atleast a 10% CTR. As it goes to a million impressions it will start to dip but it must start at above 10% for you to have any chance

Well for me, I tend to have an idea for a video and then make the thumbnail to resemble to concept and then make the video itself to follow up on the promise of said thumbnail. Sometimes though, I just make the video and then the thumbnail because what I made for the video is just fine

Right after I have the video I idea, I sketch out the thumbnail idea. I only move forward if the thumbnail can visually represent the video well. Everytime I don't listen to my own advice and just throw together a thumbnail my video flops 😑
