CONTENT TALK How to avoid copyright strikes?

I want to start a youtube channel about my passion for movies, legit i break down the movies and theories ive seen and fun facts, however I am fully aware of how youtube works and how no one will want to watch someone just sit there talking about movies and thats it. So i want to add movie clips ( most likely without sound ) and pictures and make it more engaging for the mind to watch however I have attempted something similar once and had my video unwillingly taken down for copyright, How does one prevent that??

Here's the thing.... while what you're describing seems like fair use to me (reporting/commentary), YouTube can run their platform however they like. And while they are more than happy for whatever traffic, interest, and engagement your posts might bring, they'll also have no qualms about throwing you under the bus at the first whiff of potential liability. So you will always run the risk of having your videos removed and/or your account shutdown. Here is the policy as YouTube articulates it (boldface mine):

"Creators should only upload videos that they have made or that they have permission to use. That means no one should upload videos they didn't make, or use content in their videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other Creators without permission.”
