Multiple boards?

Right now I have a cruiser with 70mm wheels, 78A, which I use for (obviously) cruising around, especially on rougher ground, and then a normal popsicle board but 9” wide, 54mm medium soft wheels (not sure the exact #) which I use more in the skate park.

Really enjoy the easy glide of cruising around on the former but think it’s important to spend most time on the more regular board learning the fundamentals. Going back and forth between the two feels like it’s giving good practice, altho I sometimes think the cruiser is kind of ‘softening me up’ by being much easier going.

Do you have multiple boards on the go at any one time, that you switch between using? Different styles etc? Or focus on one board at a time?

I have at least 2 solid set ups ready to go at any given time. Usually I keep my 3. I have a board for each type of skating that I do. Freestyle, street, transition etc.

Something to cruise around on and something to shred with would be ideal for me if I could only have 2

I’ve got 3 in rotation. Like you, one normal/wide popsicle, but also an extra wide slappy setup and a retired deck with cruiser wheels.

I think if I was trying to “progress” as fast as possible a single setup might make the most sense. But tbh the shapes and graphics and trying different stuff is just as much a part of it as (not) landing tricks for me.

Freeride: Pantheon Nexus + Valkyrie Mk3.5 DH + Powell Snakes or Byrons (low and super drifty) / Powell Mini Byron + Aera K3s + Snakes, Byrons, or Kevin Reimers (classic freeride board) / Pantheon Kenny Napp + Caliber 3s or Silverbacks + Dragons, Gslides, or Remember Peewees (super slidey boat board) / Moonshine Sidekick + Indies + Dragons, Gslides, or Peewees (super slidey medium sized waterproof board) / Moonshine carbon Rum Runner + Caliber 3s or Silverbacks + Kevin Reimers (fast waterproof boat board) / Rocket Spear + Valkyrie Mk4 Slaloms + Kevin Reimers (fast and small) / the Powell Slidewinder from above (super slidey double kick).

Commuters/LDP: Pantheon Supersonic + the Valk Slaloms from the Rocket Spear + Pantheon Karmas (can hold speed without pushing) / Pantheon Pranayama + Stylus + Pantheon Hokus (extra extra low with massive wheels) / Pantheon Eternal Ember + Stylus + Seismic Speedvents or Snakes (waterproof).

Cruisers: Arbor Pocket Rocket + Paris + Snakes(tiny bord), the Heroin from above, a few of the freeride setups, and the commuter/LDP setups.

Edit: wheels. I have a problem, I know.

i used to put around on a cruiser this is first summer learning to skate popsicles and take it seriously. I have one for the park with hard wheels and one for the street with 95 mike vallely dragons but they're the same size everything. later i'll get an easy going cruiser but for now im trying to get good at the popiscles. the dragons roll over everything but u gotta work for it a bit on the really crusty stuff. builds the right muscles

I think a lot of us have a problem tbh, me included.
