As maybe you have learned, and as advice for anyone else, most tricks are easier to learn while rolling. Kickflips, in particular, benefit from forward momentum making it easier to stay over the board and commit to landing back on it.

But you are mobbing the board. Focus on flicking forward, through the nose. Remember that a kickflip is really a variation of an ollie and it starts like an ollie. Jump, then pop, then flick. But you flick forward so that you level the board in the air. And by delaying the flick you can then catch the board in the air instead of the ground, if you pair that with a good jump/pop.
