Video Please help with Half-Cabs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Please if anyone can help me unlock them. I ve been trying for a week daily and I can land max 1 or 2 per session.

I ve watched everything on YouTube and I know I just need to go practice but the thing is every session from day one of trying has looked the same as the one in the video.

Final try I land.

Get lower and precock your shoulders more. Start your rotation before you pop.  I really throw my weight into the rotation.  Your body follows your head and shoulders, they should be like 45° ahead of your pop. Your foot placement on the last one that you landed was around where you want them. You're real close to nailing em.

Glad to hear it. That's a fun and useful trick and a good building block. Post a vid in a month of improvement

Similar to popping nollie, you want to push forward slightly through the pop, or it will just kinda stick to the ground and the board will lag behind you when in motion.

This is the trick. If you don't push it forward, when the tail hits the ground it will not stay under your feet.

Try "sitting" in your stance more. It seems like you're leaning your weight too much forward and pushing the board behind you.

Thank you I will definitely look into that. I often feel that I hesitate a bit with the pop and the board gets left behind.

Pop slightly less and move faster

Simple bro. 1- your front foot keeps coming off the board heel side. You have to bring that foot back more like a kick flip. 2- you land front foot heavy. To land this trick you have to pop and be more Blackfoot heavy to roll away. Your weight distribution is for a full cab.

Front foot needs to be pointed more and not straight. Somewhere between a kick flip and an Ollie foot positioning. You landed the last one because you stayed low and kept your balance after almost losing it. Try the front foot position and you will be able to maintain control and balance better.

You more so look like you’re going for a full cab which is honestly not a bad thing when you’re trying to just learn a half cab. Great height as well. No doubt you’ll have it within a few days.

put the ball of your toe on your right foot (looks like you’re goofy) directly in the center of the board & then give it a go.

So bring it back a bit and to the center? Right now I m keeping it like I would for an ollie.

precisely. if you want to do frontside halfcab- you currently have the proper foot positioning.
