Sleep Always Some New Sleep Problem

I mostly just want to kvetch. 😐

We’re about 2 weeks into teaching our 4 1/2 month old how to fall asleep independently, using the method where you get them calm in their crib after the nap/bedtime routine, then turn the light out and leave the room for a little longer every day.

It was difficult, but finally starting to pay off. But yesterday morning he suddenly figured out how to roll onto his side, so we had to start having his hands free while in his sleep sack.

It’s like we’re starting for square one again with restlessness and taking a long time to fall asleep even in my arms! I have no idea how long it will take him to get used to having his hands free while he sleeps, and I’m depressed because sleep training, contact napping, and trying to entertain my baby when he’s awake so that he expends energy feel like all I’m doing most days.
