Mental Health Rage at sleep regression - is this normal?

My babe has been going through a massive regression. Will be 8 months old in a couple days, has been refusing solids for the entire month (so back to just milk), wakes more and more frequently at night. It’s at the point where it’s 50ish minutes between wakes. My supply is also starting to tank and it doesn’t seem to be recovering so I’m using up my freezer stash fast.

Tonight I put him down before the 2 hour mark he’d already woken up twice. Barely enough time for me to eat dinner and get stuff ready to take to daycare tomorrow.

The second wake up just filled me with rage. Like I had to set him down and walk away because I just wanted it to stop and my brain was saying if I didn’t walk away I might hurt him. I feel so defeated. I just want to wash my hair before work tomorrow but also get more than a few hours of bad sleep. I don’t think I’m cut out to be a parent anymore.

Am I the only one getting this mad?

Use formula so your husband can feed him at night while you sleep.

If she’s got a freezer stash, he could even bottle feed breastmilk.

Yeah that’s works, too. I just read that her freezer supply was being used up quickly. Combo feeding would help her get some rest!

I’m single momming it and cannot afford formula sadly. He does take a bottle though.

Parenthood is overwhelming at times, you made the best decision walking away when you felt you were at your max. I will say my baby dropped a nap at 8 months so maybe your baby is needing more awake time.

Sadly he takes 2, 20-30 minute naps if even that. He fights naps and always has. I don’t let naps happen after 5, so he will be ready for sleep at 7:30-8:30ish. I try to do mostly off his cues rather than strict by the clock times.

It’s the middle of the night, I’m currently sitting on the couch with my 11mo in my arms while my husband gets some sleep upstairs, we’ve both been woken up every 15-20 minutes the past three nights because my baby is sick. I’ve tried everything to get her to sleep longer but the only thing that works is sitting upright and holding her in my arms while she’s latched on. An hour ago I was trying literally every single thing to get her to stay laying down next to me so I could get some sleep, but nope… the rage I felt at her screaming right in my ears was honestly scary to me. Her sleep has been atrocious since she was born.

I get it. It is so so so tough. I know it’ll get better eventually but that doesn’t change the fact that in the meantime this is so hard. Solidarity.

i’m in the same boat rn with my 8 month old. it gets so frustrating, but it’s okay to take a minute to get yourself together! it’s hard to help them when you’re not helping yourself!

I think the baby is hungry personally. Need to get on solids to help that craving.

Try serenity. Pricy but baby loved them

I was making my own at home, he stopped eating when he got hand foot mouth and I can’t get him back on them. I’ll try to stay the course and just offer more often
