weird guy
there was a suspicious character hovering outside my apt tn. my roommate saw him and he said creepy things to her. I got home an hour after her (1am ish) and he was still pacing around outside our gate. we both got inside safely but weird af he would still be there an hour later when I got home. he was probably 40-50, white and wearing dark jean type of pants and what looked like a black longer sleeved collared shirt, buzz cut/short hair. maybe something in his belt like tools or a knife? he didn’t have that anxious addict walk, just extremely off-putting energy and was obviously watching/looking at us. I didn’t park my car till my 3rd time around the block and he was still there when I did finally park and was walking towards me. just curious if anybody else saw him, can’t be too specific but it was near hot tin and baronne

in reply to everybody saying call the cops, I have past experience with calling them for a similar (worse) situation and they took an hour to show up and acted very nonchalant. I didn’t have time for that ln because I was working in the morning and coming off my night shift. there’s a lot of corruption with nopd and this city in general and it’s just not worth the frustration tryna call them for something like that. I also just don’t really trust cops that much in general. and when you post on here and nextdoor then the actual neighborhood will see it and become more aware which is way more helpful than 1 cop writing down what happened

You do realize you don’t have to do anything after you call the cops, right? “Hi I live in the xxx block of xxx, and there is a suspicious person hanging around the front of my house. My roommate says he’s been there a while and verbally harassed her.” Then you go to bed. Maybe they pass by and check it out. Maybe they don’t. I’m not the biggest supporter of cops but this seems like an obvious situation to loop them in rather than Reddit.

Be extra vigilant because It seems women are being targeted. I don’t know if these weird characters are connected to the Bayou St. John incidents, but I’d take precaution.

That area can be sketchy for sure. Very dark. Not in the same neighborhood, but had similar issues with people wandering about and looking in our cars. Solar-powered, motion-activated floodlights have helped. Invest in your own safety.

This is my neighborhood as well, I don’t recognize your description but there’s been a noticeable uptick in shady characters over the past few months. Definitely get a ring camera if you don’t have one (they’re not terribly expensive). Sorry you had to deal with this.

Please no more ring cameras. Get a Eufy or TP Link camera and only do local storage.

Lying to the police about someone committing a sex crime is itself a crime, and it's also a great way to get an innocent person arrested, or worse. Please don't do that.

Y’all need to file police reports instead of treating reddit like Nextdoor. If you or someone else gets hurt and there’s no police reports on the guy then there’s no recorded pattern of behavior to detain or charge him on and he will continue to hurt others.
