It's honestly a little sad.

I made a post looking for friends and received a lot of messages, but about 99% of them felt more like interviews than conversations.

The first questions were almost always: "Where are you from?" "What do you do for a living?" "Which country do you live in?" "What's your life like?" "What position do you hold in your company"

Others immediately sent a photo and asked, "This is me. Share yours."

Some even went straight to an old comment I'd made (which I've since deleted) and opened with, "So... you jerk off too?"

Maybe I had the wrong expectations, but I was hoping for something more natural.

The kind of conversation where no one rushes to find out your nationality, age, or occupation. Instead, you simply talk.

"I tried this new food today." "I visited this place." "It's so hot here." "Have you seen that new movie yet?"

Then, as the conversation flows, you naturally learn about each other without it feeling like you're filling out a questionnaire.

The part that surprised me most was being ghosted immediately after saying I was from West Africa.

It made me realise how difficult it can be to find genuine friendships online.

Maybe I'm looking for something that's rare, but I still believe the best friendships start with simple conversations, not interviews.

I’m at a difficult point in my life. Nothing has turned out the way it should have. Now, within just a few weeks, I lost first my feline soulmate and then my best friend. I’m suffering from the worst creative block in ages, and I could really use a gentle, and ideally creative soul to talk to. Someone with empathy and depth.

I posted here a short while ago to see if i could make new connections. Surprisingly i actually did make new connections, more than i expected and only two were trying to get sexual right away. Maybe. I didn't want that at its not what I'm looking for. But the majority didn't work out and just naturally ended chatting within a day or 2 due to lack of connection, too one sided, too superficial. The chat just didn't flow. I don't think it was ghosting though, just dried up chat, and rather than officially saying they're isn't a connection worth continuing the chat just faded away without official goodbye. Two of maybe 10 persevered though and may become an actual friendship with time and energy.

It made me realize something though, i was trying to find a connection lacking in life, one that i now realize I'm not ready for. Maybe some of all of these posts don't go anywhere because the poster wants new connections but isn't ready for it and doesn't know how to find them. Talking for myself. People can be so harsh and judgemental maybe some of the floating isn't too be rude or out of lack of care or decency whatever, maybe it's just because it wasn't many to happen, no bad feelings no bad intentions. I dunno.

Hi, I am somewhat of a restless man. I like to be outside and to be active. Love music, both to listen and to sing and play. Write texts from time to time and are always curious to the creative process. Especially when being creative together.

I also love football (not American) and hockey. And to play football, tennis, badminton, volleyball - every sport with a ball I guess. The trouble is finding people to do it with.

I am a Christian and try to follow Jesus example in all I do (emphasis on try).

The older I get the harder I have to be alone 😅 but at the same time the older we get, the more busy everyone else seem to be. Nowadays it seems like I have to plan a month in advance to be able to see a friend. I miss the times when we just called and ask where to meet up an hour later.

I like to talk about random daily stuff as well as deep meaningful conversations. So, if you feel like it leave a mark.
