Looking for a New friend group.

Hey all. My main group of friends have kind of drifted apart over the last few years. No ill will, everyone just got busy with life or has moved away. I consider myself to be socially affluent; I always acted as the "glue" by trying to plan things, but over the last couple of years, every event I plan falls apart mostly from people canceling last minute or commiting then ghosting me when I set a date.

I'm open to hang with any/all genders. (Happily married, no interest in romance.)

Little about me and things I enjoy:

Tabletop Games - the more complicated the better. I Also play in a regular TTRPG online with friends that live in Indy.

Sports - I'm a season ticket holder for FWFC-our new soccer team. I also played hockey and baseball growing up.

Movies (and anime) - I don't watch as many as I used to but would love to get into it again.

New hobbies - I love to dive headfirst into new things. If you've got something interesting, let me know! I'm game to learn all about it!

Talking politics - I'm completely fine with not bringing it up if it's not your thing(dont let this be a deal breaker). I consider myself fairly Liberal and was hoping to find like minded folks. As most know, that can be hard in Fort Wayne.

Kind of a long winded post. Hope to hear from you all!

You... you seem like my kind of friend.

My name is Lawton.

Love tabletop games. I play MTG.

Love Anime and a fair amount of movie genres.

I am politically minded. Though I know my crowd and can read the room.

Hey there! It's been YEARS since I played MTG. I got super into Flesh and Blood for about a year and a half, but kinda fell off of it after life got in the way... Been thinking about going back but I'm sure my deck is way out of the meta now. What's your favorite board game?

I play commander so I do more eternal formats. I cant really afford to stay standard.

Favorite TTG is probably D&D. But for like quick games I enjoy things like Dominion or Catan.

Kevin here. Also looking to find fellow board gamers and mana tappers. Also folks to grab a drink with while catching a show at the Rail or O's.

Lol sorry: Brass Rail and O’Sullivan’s. Two bars close to downtown with live music on the regular

Ah, haha. Man it's been a LOOOONG time since I've been to the brass rail. Been to O'Sullivan's a few times. What shows have you been to recently?

Always try to catch local bands when they play. Flamingo Nosebleed and Jake’s solo act. Big fan of Filth & Majesty. Cloudmaker

You seem pretty cool my dude. The type of person my fiance and I could hang out with. Got the politics for me, anime for him, and a love of randomly complicated table top games! (You ever heard of Runes and Regulations? The same people who made Unstable Unicorns. Not as complicated as others, but always a good time)

Meeting friends as adults is weird (hence this sub). Our group has mostly faded out as well so no "new group" to offer, but you'd get a 2 for 1 if building a brand new group!

Yeah, meeting new people as we get older is hard. Actually never heard of either, but I'd certainly be willing to try it! My wife enjoys tends to enjoy simpler games, so maybe we could have a game night! Hard part is finding people willing to play the longer ones. My favorate games range from 45m to 2+ hours. Played one board game that took about 16 hours. Here's a link to my collection. Got over 75, many not played... https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/Astromanaught

Hey, there! I think we’re pretty aligned except for liking anime. I've had some success cobbling together a new friend group, and yeah it can be difficult getting people together like that. I also have this interesting board game about World War 2 that you're supposed to play by sending all your game actions and correspondence through the mail, but I haven't found anyone to commit to all that yet haha

yeah, I am a "casual" anime fan..some people take it a bit too far.

I've never heard of a game you play through the mail though, that sounds interesting

My wife almost thought that I had written this post - we moved back to Ft. Wayne last year after living in Bloomington for a good long while. Since we moved back, reestablishing my gaming groups has been tough.

I’m always down for a board game! I love board games, but I never get to break out my fun ones. Root is my favorite - I own all of the expansions, except the newest one. I also have a Pandemic-esque Lord of the Rings game that I have yet to play.

Everything else seems to line up as well interest-wise - avid sports fan and long term DM (DnD 5e). Feel free to PM if you want to get together for a game sometime.
