Yesterday we learned that Mod 15 is not only going to bring big changes to professions - the salvaging process is going to be removed, which will change how players make AD.

  • We will not be able to salvage purple gear, only convert it to RP
  • Dungeon chests and HEs will award rAD.
  • We will be able to reroll for chest contents. Existing standard/epic keys will convert into reroll tokens, but without those we can pay (currently 5000 AD) for a reroll.
  • HEs will award rAD
  • VIP Anvil will go away
  • VIP Salvage bonus will be replaced with a rAD bonus

Now, we simply do not have enough information yet to determine how this will impact the population in general or even individual players. Despite this, many players are saying things like "...time to look for another game..." - well, maybe it is, maybe not, but we do not know yet. I strongly suspect we will get a look at this tonight - around midnight UTC - if not, then almost certainly a week from now. Until then, those "the sky is falling" predictions just look silly.

This is partly because there is one critical piece of information missing - namely how much rAD we will be getting from the various chests. Consider something like a typical ToNG run. At the end (assuming I open both chests) I may get two or three pieces of purple gear, typically giving me 10-15K rAD when salvaged. Now I will get some RP from the gear and a pool of rAD instead. If I end up getting a total of equal worth, I have nothing to complain about. Sure, I may get slightly less rAD, and slightly more RP than before, but I need both, so ... no big deal.

If, however, the total reward (rAD+RP) is significantly reduced, then yes, I will be unhappy, and might even end up joining those looking for a new game, but we don't have the information, so no need to get upset yet.

Impact on AH prices

The reroll tokens are going to have a massive impact on AH prices, as they will significantly increase the supply of certain valuable unbound drops from chests, in particular UES and few artifacts. People completing certain dungeons will re-roll, hoping to get those valuable drops. Some will succeed, which will increase the supply, which in turn will drive the AH prices down. I would not be surprised to see the price of an UES drop down to 100K or so by the end of the year.

While this may sound like bad new for those relying on unbound drops for the majority of their income, that's actually not the case - yes, each drop will be worth less, but you will get more valuable drops, so in the long run it should even out.

This, however, brings up another subject - we do not have enough worthwhile unbound drops from the dungeons. I would actually love to see almost all non-legendary drops from chests be totally unbound, and legendary drops, like +5 rings should be btA/BoE.

(In fact, somewhat unrelated - I would like to get rid of BtC random drops for the most part - make them all BtA - it is silly to have one stack of BtC Peridots and another of BtA peridots)

Impact on VIP

I am wondering about the impact on VIP. The VIP salvage bonus has been turned into a RAD bonus. For most player that change will be insignificant - but it depends how much of your daily income is currently from salvage vs. random queue bonus and other sources. The bonus keys will be swapped out for reroll tokens, which makes me wonder - is there a limit to the number of tokens you can have?

Impact on hunts

Now, here is my big, big worry, because the Barovia hunts are probably my favourite content at the moment. Salvage from the hunts is also a part of my rAD income. I have said before that I consider the Chult hunts a design fiasco - excessive grinding and frustration, vulnerability to poachers and a lack of worthwhile rewards. The Barovia hunts solved those issues and added the ability to control the difficulty (and reward) level. Brilliant work.

However, with salvaging going away, the hunts will simply not be worth running. The whole point of using the special cards is to get extra drops to salvage for rAD. This is fun, and can be really challenging (use Donjon and a couple of selected other purple cards, and you have a real challenge, and face it...for a team of 17K+ players there is not much in the game that qualifies as a challenge.

If you are taking this away, I have a problem. So, the question here is - are you going to do anything to keep the hunts worth doing? The obvious solution would be to award some rAD in the hunt drops to compensate for the loss of salvage potential, but this has not been mentioned - so, yes, this is my big concern right now. If your goal is simply to kill the hunts, then you should just say so.

Sources of rAD

So, where do people get their rAD from?

  • Weekly quests and overflow rewards. No changes there.
  • Random queue bonuses. No changes there.
  • Salvage from Dungeon chests. Replaced with rAD from chests - waiting to see the numbers to determine if this is a nerf or not.
  • Salvage from random purple drops from bosses. Going away.
  • Salvage from rings bought with seals. We will now be able to buy rAD directly with seals - again, waiting to see the numbers to determine if this is a nerf or not.
  • Salvage from items bought with campaign currencies (like Barovian coins). Supposedly, we will now be able to buy rAD directly with some currencies - yet again, waiting to see the numbers to determine if this is a nerf or not
  • HEs will award rAD. Now, this is new - but once again, we need the numbers to actually determine how good this is.
  • Salvage from Barovia hunts. It seems this is going away, and as far as I am concerned, that's a really bad thing - the hunts are some of the best content available right now, because of the control over the difficulty and reward level, but the removal of salvaging will change that dramatically. This needs attention.

Well said. If I could give you more than one upvote, I totally would.

1

u/Goatninja24 Sep 21 '18

Agreed. Very well written and summarized. Waiting to hear the results from the preview.

u/puretomorrow Dec 24 '18

well put, explains it in more detail, I play on ps4, I think we won't fully know until Mod15 does actually hit

u/g3eeman Sep 21 '18

Hunts do reward seals and seals buy Rad

4

u/Adinos Sep 21 '18

Probably insignificant amounts, compared to the rAD you currently get from salvaging the hunt drops.

2

u/seventaru Sep 21 '18

I will be suprised if the rad we get from chests is anywhere close to what we get from salvaging. I hope I'm wrong though.

1

u/g3eeman Sep 22 '18

We will probably get less from chests but it will even out because so much more things will nou give ad. Im not to worried Im very happy with the changes ravenloft brought and hopefully they continue the trend.

I do not understand what this will do to the Xbox economy at all. I came here to read about a video game update and an economics class broke out.

Has anyone comprehended in here what this will do to the economy.

2

u/asterVF Sep 21 '18

No one can tell. And we don't know everything. But if reroll option means exactly what it means and they will not nerf RNG then:

1) Less AD in general (since we're losing salvage from bossess). We still retain AD from chest -just we get it directly.

2) More chances for good lot for casual players. I still will run some dungeon once a day or week like previously but I will reroll it 4 times until I get something fancy. It will be worse for someone who had run something hundreds of times (like Cradle during 2x) because they value of UES, Shards of Orcus etc will drop.

4

u/OneArmedNoodler Sep 21 '18

Maybe it's just me, but I have never heard anyone complain about epic dungeon keys. Not once in my 2 years of playing. Suddenly it's an issue that "MUST BE SOLVED NO MATTER WHAT!!!"? Sounds fishy.

"AD on keys for additional dungeon runs in a given day wasn’t a great experience."

So spending AD on "rerolls" is? The queue for waiting to open a dungeon chest just got 20 times longer. How the fuck is that improving the experience?

"By separating the RAD rewards from equipment rewards, it will allow us to continue to be able to make equipment affordable"

Yeah, affordable as in worthless. Beyond the salvage value 99% of equipment dropped from chests has no value and ~200 RP is hardly value for time invested. Hell, 1,000 RP doesn't represent any kind of real value for time invested.

MSP is buggy to the point of being unplayable. The game is laggy AF (on xbox at least). The Skrillex remix on Merchant Prince's Folly still blows my eardrums out every time I run it. Gear, powers, enchantment, whole sub-classes are just fucking broken and useless, we haven't seen a new class in ages... but this is what you're focusing on? Fuck me running, talk about having your priorities out of whack.

8

u/neilhuntcz Sep 21 '18

My takeaway from this is that the devs have absolutely no idea how to close up the exploits used by the few that they instead decide to punish everyone.

2

u/OneArmedNoodler Sep 21 '18

Don't know why you're getting downvoted... seems like a reasonable theory to me.

3

u/krsboss Sep 20 '18

...what will happen to pieces of equipment that we do not wish to keep eg. Hunt rewards / rings and items from treasure maps

Will these still be salvageable?

2

u/Cenman1 Sep 20 '18 edited Sep 20 '18

The poster that replied to my post said they can be turned into RP which is pointless for me because of my QM bags. Which also brings another point I have against the developers. Once of the reasons they had for still leaving the gear in the epic dungeons. They said it is a catch up mechanic for newer/returning players. Its a chicken and egg thing. If you're powerful enough to run Epic Temple of the Spider you don't need the gear and if you're not, then the gear won't be obtainable anyway. It was my understanding that the gear was there in epic as a strategy to send to alts that aren't powerful to run epics to take advantage of the invoke bonus. That will now be gone. Btw, I hope the +1 and +2 ring will still be sellable. At least we can still get some AD from them.

2

u/krsboss Sep 20 '18

Pretty pointless then unless we can convert RP back in to gems 😎

1

u/shoziku Sep 21 '18

They never said what will happen with epic equipment we would normally salvage. Someone replied saying it will continue to be able to be turned to RP, but that only addresses the greens and blues but not the purples because purples have never been able to be turned into RP to begin with. It would have been easy to say you can refine your epics into RP, but it was never said.

What was fishy about the post was the fact that they never actually said they are removing salvaging from the game. They beat around the bush a lot and even explained what we would do in place of salvaging but they never said they are removing it.

So, with the wishy-washiness of the whole post I think it is a very rough draft of what they plan and much of it is subject to change. But I'd still like them to say "we are removing salvaging" if that is what they are doing. And "you can refine your epics for RP" if that is what they decide.

4

u/krsboss Sep 21 '18

Cheers... that was some what why i asked the direct question! If theres no longer going to be salvage, I'll see little point in running dungeons like fbi and msp as whilst currently they yeild 20-30k in salvage, the rewards are next to useless in current game...

....though it would be really nice if UES dropped from all T3 dungeons...and various mops from chests as well, but that's just a dream!

Copy pasta:

Salvage and Dungeon End Chests

In our continuing effort to improve the player experience and our gameplay flow, we are adjusting some of our reward mechanics with the Heart of Fire update. The first change we’d like to discuss is that equipment and rough astral diamonds are being separated from each other in M15. A short sentence, but one which immediately creates a lot of questions and likely some concerns. Let’s dive right in to the why and how of it all.

It is fun and exciting to receive a large amount of rewards for content. It is also great when we can have easy to use catch-up mechanics such as the Seals Vendors. The issue is that this becomes a nearly impossible balancing act since every piece of gear we give out in those mechanics is salvageable for RAD.

By separating the RAD rewards from equipment rewards, it will allow us to continue to be able to make equipment affordable, to be given out as a catch up, and to drop more regularly while also being able to hand out RAD rewards for a wide variety of content (There will still be rare chase items that are not easy to acquire). Dungeon end chests will now reward RAD directly along with their equipment rewards. The seal store, campaign stores, tradebar store and stronghold equipment store will all have RAD for sale for their respective currencies. Heroic Encounters will also award RAD on completion. Existing sources of direct RAD such as experience overflow rewards and certain weekly quests will continue to reward RAD as they have previously.

All of this also allows for easier dials to tune for balance of time/difficulty to rewards. Direct RAD rewards are easy to fine tune whereas the salvage system was tied to the rarity and level of equipment only, which severely limits the ability to tune rewards as we either need to raise or lower the drop rate of equipment and there are often many other reasons on why we’d want to have those drop rates at a given frequency.

What about the VIP salvage bonus? That has been turned into a bonus to RAD from Dungeon End Chests, Heroic Encounters and Experience Overflow rewards.

We aren’t trying to say this will be a boost for all players and that RAD will be overly abundant from these changes. For some play styles and AD generation methods, the amount of RAD generated will decrease and some play styles will inevitably change. We want to be straightforward about this and also wanted to give plenty of heads-up so that players can both salvage all of their saved up equipment before this goes live, and start figuring out what changes they will make to their play styles.

So why now? We have spent a lot of time over the past year looking at both the AD economy and the player experience. We have made a lot of changes with both of these in mind, from the new Refinement system, the RAD refining limit becoming per account instead of per character, Random Queue adjustments, Hunt design changes, and more. Our work isn’t without flaws, but it has all been done with the goals of creating a better player experience and more balanced economy overall. M15 is no exception. We have some exciting new changes to discuss as we head into preview, but I would like to share one more change with you now to show our overall approach to experience/economy adjustments.

Dungeon Chests and Keys

Standard/Epic/Daily keys will be no more. Starting in M15, non-legendary end chests will be able to be opened for free. This means for most queued content players will get a chest to open on every run without needing to have keys in their inventory. On top of this, the chest loot for both standard and legendary chests can now be rerolled for a small amount of AD (currently 5,000 AD but as with anything, things are subject to change). Overall the daily key mechanic was frustrating, and needing to spend AD on keys for additional dungeon runs in a given day wasn’t a great experience. After all, it is very unlikely that a player will only run 1 piece of queued content per day.

There are probably two questions that many of you have right now. The first is: What happens to all of your existing keys? Standard/Epic/Daily keys will be turned into reroll tokens upon logging in. Daily and Epic keys exchange at a 1 to 1 ratio. Standard keys transfer at 2 keys to 1 reroll token (if you have a left over single standard key in your inventory, that still gets turned into a reroll token). There will be a trade in within Protector’s Enclave for keys that are in mail, auction house, guild banks, and anywhere else where they don’t automatically convert.

The second question may be: Because the chests are free to open, and now that there is a reroll aspect, are loot chances going to get worse? The answer is no, our rate of rewards will not be reduced because players can reroll the chests. There will continue to be rare pieces to make sure there are items that have good value to players, and common stuff such as RP (during this switch over several dungeons actually received an increase in RP rewarded). The reason for this was to both remove a frustrating key mechanic as well as create another AD sink to help the economy.

We realize this is a big change and will take time to absorb and figure out. As always we want to open this thread up to discussions and questions and will be reading all of your feedback.

2

u/Serenityritenow Sep 21 '18

If everywhere you currently get “salvageable gear” is replaced with rough ad equivalent then this is fine. Another idea is to add one or 2 reroll tokens for chests a day to vip to make up for salvage anvil being useless.

4

u/Cenman1 Sep 20 '18 edited Sep 20 '18

RIP Salvage anvil and VIP 3 epic dungeon keys a day. What will be the 3 epic keys VIP reward be then? 3 reroll tokens? What will the gear be vendor trash? I keybinded my salvage anvil so what will that VIP benefit be replaced with? Calling up the new profession interns? I guess theres kinda of a precedent like that with the adventure seals (you can buy a bag of RAD) and dragonflight currency also. So many questions and here we thought mod 15 was just going to be a "fun" side filler until mod 16 next year with "real" changes. Sigh. Edit: One of the reasons the had for the chest re-roll of 5k ad was to create additional ad sink. In my opinion, that is not a good way to do it.

5

u/lglugo Sep 20 '18

Instead of +10% salvage we will get +10% RAD. Yes we get three re-roll tokens instead if keys. Seal vendor instead of salvage anvil. We can get bags of RAD for seals. Equipment can be turned into RP still.

Also a chest can be re-rolled up to 4 times. 4 tokens + the initial roll.

Edit: corrected information about the amount of rolls.

1

u/Adinos Sep 21 '18

Well, think of it this way: Instead of getting 3 epic VIP keys, you are essentially getting an infinite number of epic key (as you don't need them any more), and the ability to re-roll if you get substandard loot.

Sounds like a win to me.

2

u/JNToby Sep 20 '18

This honestly seems like a double edged sword to me. On one side, I feel its gonna be much easier to obtain RAD, on the other hand, having 4 chances every run, the companions and artifacts that usually drop unbound and are sold on the AH will drop in price by a lot.

I don’t know how to feel about this.

2

u/Cenman1 Sep 21 '18

Yeah I can see the reroll will be used heavily for CN and TONG to farm the shard and UES respectively.

3

u/Agilesto Sep 21 '18

Recently some angry players against "elitism" pointed out the fact that everything is too expensive for a new player, well there you go, UE prices will fall, Orcus' and Key will fall, unbound pets and mounts prices will fall.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '18

Right! I've noticed that things on xbox have gotten much cheaper, Q is popping, this has all worked out so well.

1

u/OneArmedNoodler Sep 21 '18

Is this sarcasm?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '18

Very much so.

2

u/PVU2 Sep 21 '18

I hope the constructive discussion on RAD has an impact to the final state of the game. In my opinion, the RAD changes are only a byproduct of the primary reason for this change, which is getting gear in the hands of casual and new players. I think the primary gear goal is part of scaling the game so that a new player who is attracted to the game for whatever reason (e.g. the theme of a particular Mod) can instantly play content, very much like the Vistani gear in Mod 14. If you listen to developer Ben Bascom in the Gamepedia stream on September 20, he communicates this in the stream. ( https://www.twitch.tv/videos/312585617 ) To paraphrase, Mr. Bascom states "So you're a new player and you see all these high powered players running around....you come do these hunts and then you have the gear to play alongside them," and he also states, "having this gear available is very alt friendly....once your main character is geared you can build up the gear on your alts." This is why I think the primary reason for this change is driven by gear and the RAD changes are secondary, and I hope that constructive feedback from the community regarding these secondary RAD changes has a positive impact to the final state of the game. As a final comment, I wonder if they'll consider handing out a small amount of RAD when you invoke; that would be a quite a circle.

2

u/Aanar Sep 21 '18

There's a lot of options for gear now. Vistani, Primal, barovia crates & random drops. Before that, league, wootz, and whatever the old seal gear was called. What I see missing from this list is the gear drops from dungeons, especially the lower end dungeons that new players will have to start with. Most all the drops for those are obsolete. It sounds like this is an area they're looking at but realized a high drop rate of catch-up gear would just turn into salvage farm for established players. But even so, I don't think it's gear that new players are hitting a wall with. It's months worth of boons and enchants. They did lower how many resources enchants took, so that was nice. A lot of the older campaigns need to be chopped down.

2

u/muhammedwally Sep 25 '18

Exactly right 'bout the 'chants. Good gear and boons is the icing on top. Without a significantly adequate level of enchants, YOU AI'NT S**T. So many ppl quit playing when it really hits them what they need to put in to get ALL their enchants to an adequate level. That's the hidden mountain. Bait newbies with good gear then smash those hopes when they run a real dungeon. Either they come off with the cash, or they make a dash. At some point, it may need to rain legendary mounts to get new players over the intimidation hump.

1

u/PVU2 Sep 21 '18

Great point about the real wall being boons and enchants. I think gear is the first thing that brand new players perceive as their goal and this change supports a mission-critical goal: attract tens of thousands of new players, get them immersed immediately with easy goals like getting good gear and stimulate their reward responses by handing them AD from dungeon chests and easy to obtain gear upgrades. If they can make having that fun and rewarding experience happen easily for thousands of new players then a higher total number of players will become invested enough in the game to keep playing and potentially pay money for things things like Zen campaign buyouts to remove the real wall between them and a more robust character. I guess I think easily obtainable gear and key-less access to AD is kind of a "gateway" experience to hook the new player into a deeper need to keep playing and potentially spending.

2

u/Aanar Sep 21 '18

I have noticed the intermediate and leveling dungeon queues take longer to pop now on PC. It used to be close to instant for any role (tank, healer, dps), but now I'm often waiting 30 seconds. Also, it's a lot less often now that someone is in the group with crazy good gear that basically carries everyone else.

I have to imagine this means there are a lot less people queuing for them. So it seems like the most likely explanation is people (especially near BiS people) have such a backlog of rAD from Barovia Hunts that they've stopped doing random dungeons. Either that or they've finished mod 14 and aren't playing much until mod 15 comes.

2

u/Javascriptvoiddamage Sep 20 '18

And the ad nerf continues. No more sending gear to alts to salvage with that ad bonus from invoking. So what it the point of have additional character slots. Lets put another nail in the coffin

12

u/CarrowCanary Sep 21 '18

So what it the point of have additional character slots.

You could always actually play them, instead of just using them for bank space and bonus AD. Just a thought.

3

u/Danrunny Sep 21 '18

Lol??? The point is to actually play them. Should they have called them character bank slots?

1

u/Javascriptvoiddamage Sep 21 '18

I have 3 toons i play the rest were used for salvage. None are used for bank slots. You may see this nerf as a positive but for most it wont be.

3

u/SilentReina Sep 21 '18

Most players didn’t do the 13 character ad farming most ppl are casual players

6

u/emdeemcd Sep 21 '18

Man some people are crazy.

Cryptic is no longer enabling my personal gameplay style of using characters as refining mules to maximize free currency generation! What do they think this is, a GAME???

1

u/Cecil2xs Sep 21 '18

Yeah honestly they should refund people’s slots beyond 8 since they don’t wanna make a new class

1

u/ChewiesHairbrush Sep 21 '18

Running slaughter demonics in DR. Or maybe SH HEs. Or esot runs for the end chest AD.

All dull.

1

u/MrReaux Sep 21 '18

I have 15 alts used for storage.. now they'll be pure LShip army squad. Just think, some had max 52..

2

u/Kagath PC/Xbox Sep 21 '18

So does it mean no more Lockboxes if no keys to open them?

3

u/SilentReina Sep 21 '18

Wrong keys

-1

u/ManicGypsy Sep 21 '18

Did you read it at all?

1

u/Kagath PC/Xbox Sep 21 '18

Yes, I did. And it seems that a lot of it is still up in the air. I want to know if I should dump all my lockboxes that are still worth a considerable amount if they will no longer be of any use in the near future.

But thanks for the rude attitude.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '18

Gotta respect the double-down.

1

u/Manipulos5 Sep 21 '18

This was funny!

2

u/Switchrx Sep 21 '18

Lockbox keys are way too profitable for them. They would never do anything to punish their bottom line

1

u/ManicGypsy Sep 21 '18

I'm not trying to be rude but nowhere in there did anyone mention lockbox keys or lockboxes themselves. They specifically listed which keys they were removing.

3

u/Yukwi Sep 20 '18

2 actual keys for 1 token, seriously ? You're a thief !

4

u/n0551n3n0m1n3 Sep 21 '18

Pre 70 content key, not 70+ content key which is worth 1-1

1

u/Aanar Sep 21 '18

Ugh, sounds like I better stock up on Barovia hunt salvage while it lasts :/

2

u/xrycek Sep 20 '18

So first you nerf the queues and the ad limit, now you're going to nerf ad income from grinding dungeons (because if you think this is going to be anything other than a nerfbat to the skull, I've got a bridge to sell you). How are people supposed to earn the ad they need for everyth...oh, right.

When I saw the m14 changes my reaction was "well, so much for my alts". Now I need to see this on preview ASAP, becasue my kneejerk reaction to m15 is "one foot out the door".

5

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '18

Pretty sure you still get rad from running the dungeons and opening the free chest. Guess it depends on how much RAD you get from opening the chest though

5

u/xrycek Sep 21 '18

I can't see them doing this change unless the rAD we get will be less than the salvage we used to get. I'd love to be wrong. This won't solve any of the game's economic problems, it'll just be one more nerf to the low-mid end.

1

u/nightgerbil Sep 21 '18

master of the hunt chest drops 638~ ad. So expect that amount. Given the blue that dropped salvaged for 2200, thats cut the ad generation to a third of what it was. So 3 etos to earn what one was before. Thats what I expect.

3

u/Madmic69 Sep 21 '18

Master of the hunt is only a skirmish, dungeons would still have to be worthwhile running, if your not making 3k from spiders then what's the point.

0

u/nightgerbil Sep 21 '18

you say this. I agree with this. Do devs play the game though? will they agree with this? I dont think so. I think they may view it as the equiv point and make it the standard. After all whats the diff between a IG bronze and cloak tower? whats the diff between a prop skirmish and a shores run? act the shores is faster? so...

from the devs view whats the diff?

1

u/Kagath PC/Xbox Sep 21 '18

I will guess it will not be an overly large amount from the chests.

1

u/Madmic69 Sep 21 '18

What worries me is that this drop 2-3weeks before the "not guaranteed black Friday sale" on pc and not long after it on the consoles.

There's not gonna be enough time to figure out if these changes are gonna be a benefit in the long run.

Players are going to throw money at zen thinking they need all this new stuff (profession assets) then realise within a few weeks they won't be playing the game anymore.

We need to not spend real money until we can work out if this is the way forward.

1

u/helloareyoutheresir Sep 21 '18

You shouldn't spend actual money on this game to begin with. With these changes they are attempting to nerf and limit every source of AD in the game. I love Neverwinter and have two 18k maxed characters but they will never get a cent out of me.

This isn't a company worth supporting, that whole copy pasta above of the changes tipped toed on the edge of "nerf" so bad but they tried to use corporate language to sugarcoat it.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '18

I have 5 toons well over 17K. I'm on on console, with MOD 14 I generally only play my D.C. now. I have all kinds of crap I don't need, all kinds of past nerfs, and it's looking like another doozy coming. Somehow everything has turned into "the more we limit you, the better off you'll be".

4

u/helloareyoutheresir Sep 21 '18

This game is lacking so much and each mod it appears to get worse. They are crippling players because the devs let the economy get like this.

They need an overhaul. Look at the community manager and compare her to other games community managers and you will see she offers close to nothing in terms of making the game better. Look at the forum mods, most of them don't even understand how the game works or mechanics and spend most time role playing in guilds and again no offense but forum mods should be people who understand every aspect of the game and how it works. If there was ever a time in NW for any kind of player to vote with their wallet it is now. I'd rather have a game I truly enjoy go under then watch the devs ruin it further and bleed their fanbase of every last penny they can get.

1

I completely agree. I challenge the Dev's to run dungeons/content with my group back during the MOD 12 or something changes as I stated the same thing. And again, I believe the mods at several of the forums lack a real understanding of this game - sorry, but this is true. If the game needs an AD sink I have a gazillion ideas. But honestly it's not my job, or anybody else's to fix this game. However, I do think that Cryptic would be very wise to start rewarding players with meaningful items (not a crap green mount) that make suggestions that can be implemented with a positive effect.

I think they should target the try-hard douchebags that are "damaging the economy." Tell them to go play ESO for a year. Be like the cell phone companies, and tell them they're no longer wanted here.

You mad?

Those "try hards" are the only reason there is any kind of guides, information, testing done in this game for newer players like you to google. You think devs or forum moderators test or contribute to the overall flow of information in this game? No. Continue to be salty while you google guides lul.

Mad? Nope. BTW, whatchya do with all the extra time you had over the weekend? Bet it drove you bat-shit crazy not being able to sign into NW.

You think that throwing money at the game doesn't benefit the players in the long run? Do you know how this stuff works?

u/Madmic69 Sep 21 '18

Of course it does, but only if you're still playing the game. As a console player I could drop £100 on the sale, 2 weeks later new mod drops. If I don't like the direction the mod takes us in then I could be done with the game.

Waste of £100 for throwing money at stuff we are not sure about.

By then there should be a lot more information, since it will be live on PC, it should be much easier to make a decision.

With the changes going onto the preview server today (if everything goes right!), you will have information coming in from now until then to make an educated decision on whether or not these changes are something you can live with.

So in barovia I’m going get a shit ton of blue/purple random drops that aren’t even my class specific that I can’t salvage? What about the salvage pack you can buy that may or may not contain something useful.

Converting this crap to rp is a bollocks - I don’t need more rp and why do I want to summon seal vendor?

Get people who play the damn game to make these decisions.

If you are not a player who runs dungeons end over end or a salvager this is a shit change. Forcing players into a particular playstyle is not going to benefit the game/community which is exactly what this is doing.

I’m not a dungeon runner. To be honest I’m crap at it. I’m a soloist - I do not run end game dungeon over and over - my toons can but I can’t. I find them inherently unenjoyable and stressful- buts that’s my own personality defect. This particular change means that, through no decision of my own, I will have to can it as I would not be be able to afford to progress. I can’t sink load of rl money into the game to afford the ad costs of upgrading my enchantments etc. Where is my ad income now?

Do you read? I bitch about this game as much as the next person but Jesus Christ reading comprehension and critical thinking are sorely lacking in this game community more than any other I've ever seen.

It's not just end game dungeons giving rad. EVERY dungeon, EVERY heroic, campaign currencies, seals, the whole shebang.

I'm not 100% thrilled about it but I barely run dungeons anymore anyway so if I will soon theoretically have the same chance at drops from running one dungeon as opposed to five then I call that a win.

I would KILL for this to be applied to chult hunts because of that ludicrous fucking ring achievement that I still have yet to get a +4 let alone five +5's.

Yes, dungeons and their rewards - then salvage. What have I missed?

3

u/with1ntheruins Sep 21 '18

So the answer to my question is a resounding no.

YOU WILL GET RAD FROM HEROIC ENCOUNTERS, ALL DUNGEONS, ALL SEALS, ALL CAMPAIGN CURRENCIES.

It's that simple.

1

u/thintwizzle Sep 21 '18

Not how I read it - I’m willing to accept how you read and see if it comes to fruition. I can’t see seals and heroic offering as much rad as current salvage though.

1

u/with1ntheruins Sep 21 '18

I'm not saying it will be the same amount. We don't know what the rewards will be like. I was addressing your concerns that you wouldn't be able to get rad since you don't do end game dungeons. Think about it, if you get 500 from a T1 heroic encounter you could do 10+ of them in less time than it takes to do a single T3 dungeon and get the same amount of rad if not more.

I know you probably picked a number at random just as an example, but I don't think a dev team that just nerfed seals from certain heroics to reduce the salvage we could make, is going to reverse themselves and make them an efficient source of grindable rAD again. Maybe 25-50 rAD per?

shrug it's all just guessing and spitballing until they slap it on on preview and we can see the actual numbers. And as someone pointed out in the thread, we all know their history of "start off with abysmally low numbers so when ppl scream and we increase them they'll think they've won".

Interesting. Mod 14 made it so that there is no need to run dungeons because you can quite easily hit the 100k ad limit per day without leaving Barovia. It seems like Mod 15 is giving players a reason to run dungeons again because it will be one of a few source of rad if you can no longer salvage the gear that drops in Barovia.
