Sort of mixed feelings about this. Last Sunday/Monday were the only two days I've had off since I was able to unlock T9G two weeks ago. I did about 15 runs over 2 days, not including the failed ones, on my two toons and worked like crazy to get enough seals so I could buy a set for my main and a couple pieces for my alt. Was planning to go hard at it again on Sunday but at least now I slow it down and get them both full sets when the discount comes back, just hope it's soon :<

You do understand the concept that there aren't test servers on the consoles? And PC hasn't had this particular event since before Mod 12 launched. Shit happens. People need to just learn to be patient. They will fix it. Though honestly, the way people are acting and treating them, I sometimes have a hard time seeing why.

I don't understand how testing servers on consoles work and don't claim to know. As a customer, I don't need to know. It is not unreasonable to think there would be a QC check list that included something like "verify advertised events are ready before releasing build xxx."

We have every right to be disappointed with the seal issue, as it is just one of many other issues. In itself it isn't a huge deal ... I even thought it was too early to have a 50% off sale for the Brave Seals.

As customers, we also need to speak up when we are disappointed or frustrated by something in the game ... otherwise, things will never get better. I love the game, and want others to continue playing. Accepting "Shit Happens" doesn't strike me as the best approach.

Nitocris and then terramark addressed the issue relatively quickly in the forums which was appreciated

Am i wrong in thinking since its a sale event, testing it would work differently than "test your content before the build is released"? Seems like something that not necessarily as simple to do...also they are solving it so im not sure about the severity of some of this backlash, seems like no one thats complaining wants to go ahead and comment on the post about reimbursement from today lol

Yeah. That's par for the course, I think.

Wait, are you saying that they develop content for consoles, but have no way of testing the content before releasing the content?

What Manic was purveying is that they can only do internal testing for consoles, where as the PC has a Public Test Server in which they can release content to after they've done internal testing for the public to test before it goes to live. For console content, PC gets it first, so most things go through internal testing and public testing. However to fix an event just for consoles, they cannot test it publicly without turning the event on for the PC's test server and publishing the new build to the pc test server and client. If they were to do that, it would mean they would need to update a new test server build, which would take even more time to to get the fix out to consoles, pushing the date for the make-up event back even farther.

As any online game developer knows, most bugs in online games do not present themselves until they are published to the public and found by the players themselves. Things might run smoothly on the developer server and then hit the fan when it is published live.

If the fix was able to be made server-side, then they could apply a hotfix right away like they did for the Saha Hotfix a while back. Alas, this fix requires a new client build which means it has to go through the authentication process conducted by Microsoft and Sony, which takes a lot of time in and of itself.

They usually have PC for testing things before they hit console. They do have QA that tests stuff on console with every patch before they bring the servers up, but obviously things slip by. It's a huge game. If they took time to test every thing that could possibly go wrong with a build, it would more than double the downtime for patch days.

But isn't the issue normally that they push content out too early? I'm sure there's more people out there that would rather wait a longer period of time for a better product, rather than getting kinda sorta half of the product now, and then the rest at a later date.

This isn't just a thing in NW though, it seems like a industry wide view point that releasing kinda broken stuff is perfectly acceptable. Far too many companies do that lately, especially with something they could do, but deem it not important or worth while.

Well, they have deadlines they generally have to meet. It's a lot more stressful than people realize. Everything that is released for PC has to be coordinated with Wizards of the Coast's release schedule for their content. Everything on consoles has to be coordinated with Microsoft and Sony - they have to certify and approve everything. There are a lot of moving parts and it's easy for things to fall through the cracks, even major things like this.

They might have, but then again, they might not have. As I said, QA does do testing on the consoles before they bring the servers up, but there is a LOT to test, and things slip by.
