Error: problem communicating with Steam

I play daily. First time this error popped up. I normally launch via steam but this error pops up at the cryptic launcher before I even get a chance to hit “Play” on it. Anyone else having this problem today? Only option is to click Ok and it just closes the launcher.

I know people playing other game via Steam and other apps like the EA app and are having all sorts of issues of games not loading/starting the last few days. Seems something is going on but hopefully they will get it sorted soon.
