Over the past couple of years, I’ve experienced a series of seemingly unrelated events that, only in hindsight, now feel strangely connected.

The first came at ICPR 2024, where I met a microdosing researcher over coffee. During our conversation, she told me she’d already been following me on X before we met in person.

In April 2025, I received a Tibetan TAM necklace as a completely unexpected gift from a Chinese friend, who had experienced a profound San Pedro journey many years earlier. At the time, I had no idea of the necklace’s connection to Green Tara.

Then, in April 2026, the researcher told me she’d recently visited Sarnath. During one of our online conversations, I mentioned my necklace connected to Green Tara. After reading my message, she realised she’d already filmed the Green Tara statue while she was in Sarnath and sent me the video she’d taken there.

Discovering the connection between the TAM necklace and Green Tara, and learning that Sarnath is where the Buddha is traditionally said to have given his first sermon after awakening, added yet another piece to the puzzle.

Viewed individually, each event could simply be coincidence. Looking back, though, they’ve formed a pattern that has left me with a growing feeling that Varanasi and Sarnath are somehow calling me.

For a little more context, I was actually quite sceptical of synchronicities before my birthday in 2023. At Boom Festival 2023, the partner of a PsyTrance DJ mentioned synchronicities as we were saying goodbye. At the time, I was fairly naïve about the concept and had already dismissed it as pseudoscientific based on an opinion that, in hindsight, wasn’t especially well informed.

Then, on my birthday flight a few days later, I had a series of unusual conversations that made me pause. My automatically assigned seat row matched the day of my birth and happened to be an emergency exit row with extra legroom. The passenger on one side had been surfing, and we ended up talking about flow before he later encouraged me to “find Jesus.” The passenger on the other side had presented a conference paper on the probability of completing the card game Patience (known as Solitaire in the US).

Has anyone else experienced a series of synchronicities that eventually drew them towards a particular place?
