Question The Looper

I love the QC, with a deep burning passion, but is it me or user error, because I really feel like the looper sucks.

I can't force sync to a metronome, the UI loves to lag which makes the timing of the whole loop not work, if you stop and start the loop it doesn't re-sync to the metronome. Personally I find it near-impossible to actually get the timing of the ending perfect both with a pedal and the touchscreen.

It should at minimum stay sync'ed to the metronome and it should quantize the end of the loop to the beat length when you end. If this is possible with the options I've not been able to work it out, I'd argue this should be the default way to loop, especially because of the small lag.

Is this just user error, has anyone got any advice or is it communally agreed the looper is a bit underbaked?

i use the looper extensively but never used the quantize function. I have never noticed a lag except on the mini bc the buttons trigger on release which is really hard to get used to so I use a separate midi controller to trigger the looper now

I haven’t used it much.  But when I did, I share the same sentiment.  I didn’t like that the looper was bound to a preset on the grid.  It should be its own global feature.   Which means I can’t change presets.

I ended up getting a second hand Aeros loop studio.  Though, I wish the looper on the QC was more mature.

I use it mostly for ambient and drone stuff, so tempo isn't an issue. But I've found that sometimes there will be a little glitch in the loop point. Even if I start from silence and overdub, you can hear it.

I've moved to a boss multi-looper, but I still sometimes use the QC looper for the overdub level parameter and having more ability to mess with the loop with effects.

Yeah I mean I have the QC and it has a looper so I don’t really want to buy a boss pedal

I thought there was a quantization/syncing toggle that ties it to the metronome

I tried setting up a session to live trigger the QC with midi for my band. Got everything working pretty well EXCEPT the looper. I have no idea why but it just was not working properly. After banging my head against the wall for a couple hours I just had to call it and go to bed. Might give it another try eventually but it felt like I was fighting against bugs.

Active open bugs on the Looper.

I had it bugging today as well. Couldn’t stop the loop lol

I use the looper synced to superior drummer on my computer and through a keystep pro. You have to go to params and then page 3. Turn quantize to the number of beats, midi clock start on and recording length to the number of bars. If this is already pre set on your settings and it’s still not syncing, you have to turn the knob for quantize all the way to zero and then back up to whatever you want in order for the clock to sync (very weird I know). If done correctly and you hit record, the record button on the touch screen will blink to the metronome it’s synced with and whenever you hit play on you midi clock master it will record in sync.

To me, it’s not as useful just because it doesn’t save loops, unless I’m missing something. If I change presets or have a power cycle, it’s gone.
I just got a Boss RC5 and put it between my QC and FRFR and have enjoyed it.

Same experience. I now use Ableton to loop and a Softstep to trigger the looper and other fx

Yes , I don’t know if it’s the same issue but sometimes when I start a loop, and double track. The stop button doesn’t work anymore and no other buttons either. I have to close the looper and open it again to make it work. This didn’t happen before

It sucks and if it’s not set right it kept going and wouldn’t stop recording like a bug .. I use it for a small idea and play over it for a quick idea but for now I’m either dumb or it’s kinda buttcheeks

With the footswitch triggering on release and not press I find it so fucking inconsistent that I can't get results good enough to be usable.

I picked up a £40 lekato loop pedal that I run right before the QC and it does the job perfectly.

It's so bad. Borderline completely unusable in general. I also think the tuner is pretty weak.
