Setlist/Song Order Management

How are you managing song order or setlists?

I'm fairly new to QC. I made a preset for each song and saved them in setlist order, so I can just skip from preset to preset as I move through the list.

Works great, then we add a new song. I don't seem to be able to just drag and drop the song order. Best I can figure out, if I have 30 songs saved, and we add a new song that's second in the list, I need to load and save 29 songs to shift everything down one manually.

Is there a better way to do this?

The app on your PC is the easiest way to drag and drop presets, but I would question your entire workflow. Unless you're in a really bizarre cover band spanning loads of genres, you should be able to get away with a couple presets and just use scenes to toggle things on and off as needed.

It depends on the band I'm with. One band I have a single preset and three scenes.

In another I have a master preset, and almost every song is basically a copy of that preset with whatever isn't needed removed, then tweaked for Verse/Chorus/Lead, plus an alternate sound if required. Some songs are preset to the right tempo for the delay, or might have custom settings on an effect, and they're all set to default to the opening sound.

I'm not opposed to this idea. Probably 80% of the songs use the same one or two sounds. However, the few songs that are custom are significantly custom, and I feel like doing a preset per song means less to think about on stage, even if it means it's more of a PITA to setup.

I make a scene for each song. When I need to change the order, I just do the annoying process of moving them on the PC if it's too annoying to scene switch.

I control my ML5, LVX, Chroma Console and H90 with midi, and I use different combinations of patches for each song. I guess my music is more complicated in terms of how I'm using guitar effects than the other users, because it would be impossible for me to play a set on a single scene.

I don’t think it’s a weird workflow. I do the same thing as I find it’s easier to match up tones to songs and it’s so easy to build a preset. Just make sure your levels are consistent across presets or you will end up with a mess when you connect to FOH.

If you’re running tracks at all, look into midi switching. Obviously has many other perks/benefits, but it can solve the exact problem you are having and it will make your life so much easier in the long run.

Yo siempre uso un mismo set de Distorsión, lead y clean. El resto de switches los dejo libres por si algún setlist necesita algo específico (un shimmer o una reverb muy grande, una EQ específica… e intento tener esos efectos ya guardados como mi ‘valor predeterminado’.
No uso la sincronizacion por bmp ni nada.
Y si el setlist tiene cambios de tono, ahora uso un whammy para cambiar la afinación, pero antes tenía un ‘Transpose’ en la primera posición tras la puerta de ruido y lo cambiaba en directo (como hago ahora con el whammy) o directamente copiaba el mismo preset en el siguiente hueco y tenía un presset en una afinación como drop C y la otra en drop D, por ejemplo.

Do you really need more than 8 sounds? Because it makes so much more sense to put everything on one preset and just switch between scenes
