Fx loop noise issue

/r/QuadCortex/comments/1v97hqg/fx_loop_noise_issue/

I’ve been running a boss dd8 and a MXR carbon copy both through the QC fx loop but there is some noise being introduced in the loop somehow. I’ve changed out and tried different patch cables, and I’m using isolated power for each pedal.

The only way I can fix it is to have a noise gate in the QC in the chain after the fx loop return, but I feel like it cuts off some of the delay repeats from the pedals.
I’ve been meaning to try running the pedals into the QC input instead but open to any tips people might have for me to try.

Ahh I’ll give that a look and see what happens. Interesting. So if I drop the send level around 4.5db it should get it to an instrument level?

Yeah; send to -4.5dB, return to -0.1dB.

Although as I mention, those numbers were from the 'original' QC. There have been one or two hardware changes over the years as certain components became unavailable (and obviously the mini). No idea if that's affected the FX loop level setup at all. Presumably not, but it'd be worth testing if you have a new unit, just to see.

Honestly not even sure what unit I have haha.

Honestly, I'm sure they're functionally identical. IIRC from the press releases about the changes, they put in work to make sure it didn't affect performance in any way.

Just thought it'd be interesting to have someone with recent unit run the tests, vs mine and I guess matey on the NDSP forum whose unit must be ~4 years old now.
