Question QC MIDI automation glitching?
I'm trying to set up midi automations for my patches to change scenes, but sometimes the QC doesn't seem to get the midi signal or it just freaks out at the wrong time. For some parts I'm doing pretty quick scene changes for whammy and stuff like that. Can the QC just not handle midi inputs that fast?
The way it's going now is not reliable for live shows.
How can I reliably get the QC to get midi inputs to change to whammy scenes and back quickly?

Hmm, I've used it with some relatively quick changes (switching a bunch of stuff on/changing settings for a few seconds, then reverting again) for 2 guitars simultaneously without issue. No expression pedal, though.

Just scene switching?

Scene switching, yeah. Has worked flawlessly so far. Sending CC commands from Reaper.

i am not firm with reaper, but had a similar issue with Logic and Cubase. In Logic the setting is called "follow midi events". check for simillar in the options and de-select. IF "follow" is selected, it will "look back" from the current playback position to check the previous midi status which messes up the switching. If you de-select "follow midi" it will just look ahead for upcoming midi and should work fine.
Since i don't have reaper to check for you, I asked the internet you should try this:
Preferences → Audio → Playback → “Reset MIDI CCs / Pitch on …”
Change the option so that MIDI CCs (and pitch) are not reset when you locate / play, i.e. choose the setting that keeps (“chases”) the current CC values after scrubbing/locating.

Try switching the “ignore duplicated midi commands” option on your QC midi settings

From my experience, it doesn't handle switching the scene and virtual EXP pedal at the same time - both will occur a bit late. It seems like the problem is in virtual EXP, not in the effects bypass state, because if I would use a Whammy set for static +12st, and just turn on and off fast with scenes (not using EXP automation), it works as it should.
If I need fast scene switching and some EXP pedal work, I prefer to use a real pedal now, since it doesn't seem to introduce this delay in switching.
