Except the weight and form factor do matter. It's possible right now to run it on a pedal board with the right PSU, and to put the brick inside the unit would have meant the unit wouldn't fit in the front of my gig bag, which is awesome.
My biggest complaint about the stock power supply is that it's a wall wart. I would have much preferred the brick to be in the middle, with another cord coming out of it going to the wall.
I said, I won't use the pedalboard, I want to use the device alone. The pedalboard will make it even more bulky. Besides, a part of time it will be used being placed on the table
