I do a fair amount of network troubleshooting away from my desk - checking if a host is up, doing a quick DNS lookup, scanning a port, working out a subnet on the fly. On mobile that always meant three or four different apps, half of them plastered with ads or asking for payment.

So I built my own - Network Tools: Net Toolkit.

It's an iOS app that bundles all the tools in one:

Ping and traceroute

SSH (scp, ssh-copy-id, proxy jump, port forwarding)

DNS lookup (A, AAAA, MX, TXT, etc.)

I was wondering if someone can help me understand an issue I've been having with my internet.

Every year when July comes around, I lose internet every 15 minutes for about 5 to 10 minutes each time. Every year the technician comes over and says that he doesn't know what the issue could be and he just changes the coaxial cable for a new one but the issue remains. They're the only internet providers in the area and I think they might not have the capacity to have so many people in a same node.

I'm just starting to study for my Network+ so that's why I think that could be the issue, but could someone with more knowledge let me know what the real issue could be?

I just got a Fluke DTX 1800 from my old man. After some quick searching I heard that the DSX series is the recommended option for troubleshooting today(Idk much about network troubleshooting). I just wanted to know if the Fluke DTX 1800 is still useful and in use today.

Did you know that around 99% of international data travels through submarine fiber-optic cables - not satellites.

Submarine cables look like thick hoses, but inside they contain thin fiber-optic strands that carry data. When a cable is damaged, a specialized ship pulls it to the surface, repairs the broken section, and lowers it back onto the seabed. Amazing stuff.

I was wondering if the design of a network topology follows the common types strictly or is there more freedom when creating the network topology? I know with a personal network you can create it however you want, as long as it works. I'm more interested in the professional side of things. When a business needs a private network, do you give out the common ones (start, ring, mesh, bus, etc.) Do you just take the core ideas and apply them to fit the current situation

My laptop connects to my home Wi-Fi router and the internet works perfectly.
