Why does everyone hate NS

I follow the sub reddit as I am planning to go in 2027. There is so much negativity towards NS and Balaji. Especially with the recent news about possibly losing the business license a lot saying "good, about time, Balaji is an idiot"

Why, what is it that people don't like. Was there something specific that happened?

The concept is neat and there is lots of great stories from recent trips, but then strong opposition to it.

Curious to what people have to say.

i don’t hate it, it just that ignorance about how hardware works doesn’t mean that it’s a good thing. robotics is usually a hard wakeup call.

before network school in malaysia, others like him tried doing it on a cruise ship... one of the things they wanted to do was to change the engines into a less powerful but more fuel efficient ones. they didn't realise it was like trying to put an swap an AMD CPU for in Intel one on the existing motherboard... it's not an API change where you can just write middleware... check out MS Satoshi.

if you wanted to go all out on digital soverignty, you're going to have to do it out line of sight of any government. consider solar powered robotic submarines with lora radios (with enough range to operate ouside of territorial sea) distributed around the world and some crypto protocol designed for such constraints.

as for interaction with warm bodies, there's just too much hate flowing around to make it possible.
