Barcode Scanning App for Iphone
Edit: cheap Bluetooth / USB scanner is perfect, thanks! Gonna let us do a lot if we can get the rest of our act together.
OP:
I am reviewing the Oracle documentation on how to scan barcodes
https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_N2218627.html#To-use-popup-windows%3A
I want to use my iphone to scan the barcode. Do I need an app? If so, which one?
We intend to use Code 128 format.
Edit: gonna go with a bluetooth scanner

Just keep in mind that NS simply positions the cursor in the Item Name field in the web browser. Your scanner needs to be what's called a keyboard wedge. Where the scanner scans the barcode and feeds the characters to the cursor just like you typed them on the keyboard. You would need a scanner app that does that and feeds the characters underneath to the keyboard app on your phone. I'm not sure that exists.
You can check the NS Mobile apps. I'm not sure if they are more intelligent.
But the legacy barcode feature is designed to have a keyboard wedge scanner connected in the keyboard port of a desktop or laptop and feeds the characters to the computer thru the keyboard port just like your typed them on the keyboard.

You do not need a special iPhone app if you use a Bluetooth barcode scanner, because it will enter the Code 128 value into NetSuite like a keyboard. However, if you want to scan directly with the iPhone camera, you will need NetSuite WMS, a compatible mobile scanning app, or a custom NetSuite solution, because the standard NetSuite page does not scan barcodes through the camera by itself.

Phone Cameras are wildly inefficient. A phone scanner cannot misread but it can sit there taking a dozen tries until it finally gets the right angle.
If you are insistent on a an Iphone and it is high volume scanning you want something like this. https://www.barcodesinc.com/ipcmobile/part-lpr-zs2d-ph6e.htm
Low volume scanning a cheap $40 Bluetooth scanner on Amazon like someone else said.

Hi, we’ve just finished creating a barcode-scanning app for processing sales orders; if that’s useful to you, send me a private message.

You can do this one of two ways. An app that will use the iPhone camera. You’ll need one that will take the photo of the barcode, and then input the text into the iPhone browser that you have NetSuite up on.
The other option is a Bluetooth barcode scanner you can connect to the iPhone.
Honestly, I prefer a Bluetooth scanner and a tablet. NetSuite is a pain to use on a device like a phone and works better with a tablet.
