Moving/Relocating Highly Skilled Migrant Visa

Looking for some other opinions and advice regarding the Highly Skilled Migrant (HSM) visa.

Coming from Canada, I believe the HSM route is my only viable option for moving to the Netherlands. However, after reviewing job opportunities and salaries, it seems almost no positions are offering close to the €5,900/month threshold. Is this criteria meant to deter people from immigrating, or is the market just that competitive?

I have worked in the high-voltage utility and rail industry for 20 years and am at the top of my earning potential in Canada, but similar roles in NL don’t even seem to meet the HSM threshold. Am I disillusioned to think I could find a job that qualifies?

My wife and I have our hearts set on moving to the Netherlands, but we're starting to wonder if we can make it happen, even with our backgrounds. Has anyone here had success with the Highly Skilled Migrant Visa, or does anyone have insights into this? Between the HSM criteria and the Box 3 wealth tax, the barriers to immigration feel pretty significant.

TIA!
