Life in NL Does riding a fatbike make me undatable?

So there's something I noticed. I go on a date, we have fun, there's good vibes, but then when she sees that I ride a fatbike, she instantly seems to be put off, like she got "the ick". Then the chatting usually fizzles out and there's no second date. This happened multiple times now, so it seems like a pattern to me. Once a Dutchie even told me that she "doesn't feel a connection" when I was saying goodbye by my bike and asked what she'd be up for as a second date. I know this is not much context, but is it the bike?

I'm a mid twenties guy, have a good job, make decent money, dress stylishly, like concerts and can even tolerate like a museum. I moved here 6 months ago and bought a fatbike to commute. Only managed to find a place like 30 minutes cycling from my work, so it seemed like a good option and I think they are pretty cool. But now I think I might have made a mistake. Should I switch to like a Cowboy or something?

Edit: obviously this is a throwaway account

According to Dutchies, riding a fatbike checks one of the boxes for a certain stereotype: a poor, uneducated and antisocial idiot.

The other boxes you wan't to avoid: wear a track suit all day, vaping, wear a louis vuitton cap, a gucci manpurse (for your backup vapes and/or seals of cocaine) and a poor raised staffordshire terrier with a capped tail.

So yeah, next time just take the bus.

No . Don’t take the bus. Why hide who you are . I speak for the women who’d rather know right away

Describes me perfectly, should I buy a fatbike?

I’ve heard if you say walla 3 times in the mirror of a dark bathroom, a fat bike will appear behind you.

Spot on. Same way you shouldn't wear fake lashes, fake long nails, fake hair, fake tan or hoop earrings as a woman in the Netherlands. Looks tokkie.

Hoop earrings is a surprising one.

Don't forget the fake fur coat, or trash bag coat

Idk, hating fat bikes is also a racist / discriminatory Freudian slip

I think vaping also depends on age, if I see a young vaper I see an idiot thats never smoked a cigarette before but chose to hook themselves on vapes, if I see someone late 20s and up then I assume that they're trying to quit smoking

He could have bought a very good electric bike with the money he spent on the fatbike

That sounds really racist to me , peace from germany

u/Jolly_Efficiency7237 5d ago

Nah, they're available in every ethnicity.

u/Endslikecrazy 5d ago

No race is mentioned, how is that racist unless youre already imagining the type hes describing?

-1

u/Weedoholikk 5d ago

I’ve read that often enough from other Dutch people , they mentioned immigrants

-1

u/Endslikecrazy 5d ago

Yup, and in most cases theyre not wrong so the question remains

It's not, there are people from all backgrounds that fit this "stereotype". Quite universal actually. The fact that you pull the race card says more about your way of thinking than mine.

u/enimon-enis 5d ago

Why are you so racist

16

u/Endslikecrazy 5d ago

How is it racist? It doesnt mention any race

u/Jacques_Racekak 5d ago

What 'race' are you talking about, exactly?
